Some of you may recall a thread started by rogerthorngill in June of 2005, looking for some demographics of Dopers. If not, you can find the thread here. I began doing some statistics on it but then work and life picked up and I lost track of it. During the previous week I came across the Excel file I used to begin tracking the information and so I located the thread and started it back up. As such I’m going to begin publishing some of the Demographic data.
First, the warnings. Due to the flexibility of responses a fair bit of this was left up to interpretation by me. Things like Ethnicity proposed a massive problem, something I was forced to oversimplify for the purposes of this study.
While I am not opening this thread to begin collecting more information, I do plan to carry Mr. Thorngill’s plans further but not at this time. And with a more regimented form such that data can be more easily extrapolated without as much interpretation that might taint the results (can we say “hanging chads?”) I am however open to ideas for further stats you’d like to see, though I warn you some breakdowns are simply not possible to my simplifying of the data set.
I’d also like to remind you all that this is a very small data set, though I am curious the official number of daily users. I’d estimate it’s maybe 1/10th of the daily users.

I did not count number of marriages or those with multiple responses such as “Divorced” As well as having a Long Time Relationship. In these cases I went with the more “current” status, if unsure I negated the result.
