2008 Presidential Candidate Matcher

Who the heck are these people? “Gravel”? “Paul”? I’m surprised McCain is so low, but then I remember his support for Iraq and that clears it up.

Gravel 20
Richardson 17
Kucinich 14
Paul 14
Edwards 8
Clinton 4
Biden 3
Dodd 2
Obama 1
Thompson -1
McCain -2
Brownback -7
Huckabee -13
Hunter -14
Tancredo -15
Giuliani -17
Cox -22
Romney -26

He’s a Republican member of the House (R-CO?) who is basically a one-trick pony, that pony being anti-illegal immigration. He’s really, really, REALLY anti-illegal immigration.

Tancredo is also the guy who acted like having a bilingual country was right up there with devil worship.

He’s a nut.

Top:
Clinton 22
Dodd 21
Biden and Obama 18

Bottom:
Huckabee -11
Brownback -13
Cox -14

I need to do more research. Too many of my issues were left at ‘meh’ and some I had to Wiki real quick.

I got 20 for Ron Paul, for whom I’d never vote. Nobody else got more than 10.

I’m leaning toward Huckabee.

Same here (I had Kucinich first, Gravel second, 4 way tie between Clinton, Obama, Richardson, and Edwards).

I also thought some of the questions were poorly worded or unclear (Embryonic Stem Cells, what about them?) redundant, or did not fit easily into “support” or “oppose” so, I had a number of "Other"s at “Meh” level.

Obama -16

Closest other was 13.

Wow…didn’t know.

Just had a friend take it…and he had scores in the 40-70’s

This supports my gut now…in that no candidate really represents me.

Top three:

Kucinich 64
No Child Left Behind
Gravel 53
(you have no disagreements with this candidate)
Edwards 40
No Child Left Behind, Patriot Act, Iran - Military Action, Same-Sex Marriage

Bottom three:

Tancredo -54
Romney -57
Hunter -63

To be honest, no one really thrills me right now, though. I got Kucinich at the top last time I took one of these, last election time, and it was from a Democrat-weighted site, though not a Kucinich one. I’d heard of everyone but Gravel before, I think.

Top 4:

Kucinich 89
No Child Left Behind, Assault Weapons Ban

Gravel 78
(you have no disagreements with this candidate)

Obama 50
Assault Weapons Ban, Patriot Act, Border Fence, Iran Sanctions, Same-Sex Marriage

Clinton 49
Death Penalty, No Child Left Behind, Assault Weapons Ban, Patriot Act, Border Fence, Iran Sanctions, Iran - Military Action, Same-Sex Marriage

Bottom 4:

Huckabee -59
Tancredo -77
Hunter -87
Romney -89

Kucinich 53
Gravel 46
Obama 39
Clinton 31
Edwards 30
Biden 28
Dodd 26
Richardson 25
Paul 6

Giuliani -13
Thompson -21
McCain -24
Cox -27
Huckabee -30
Brownback -32
Tancredo -42
Hunter -45
Romney -47

I’d support Kucinich if he had a chance. I think I’d be happy with Obama or Clinton.

Odd since I don’t know who Gravel is and like Clinton better than Obama.

Thompson 31
Kyoto

McCain 27
Kyoto, Guantanamo, Torture, Citizenship Path for Illegals, Iran - Military Action, Same-Sex Marriage

Romney 27
Embryonic Stem Cells, Kyoto, Iran - Military Action, Same-Sex Marriage, Same-Sex Civil Union, Same-Sex Constitutional Ban

Giuliani 26
Hunter 24
Tancredo 15
Huckabee 12
Cox 10
Paul 5
Brownback -1
Dodd -7
Biden -8
Clinton -12
Obama -13
Edwards -18
Richardson -21
Kucinich -26
Gravel -27

The top three are correct, but it’s actually Romney/Thompson/McCain. I like how Romney lost so many points because same-sex marriage gets 3 questions and taxes aren’t even on the quiz.

My top choice is Kucinich with 45.
Bottom choice is Romney with -44.

This poll is clearly favoring Kucinich. I can’t believe there are this many Kucinich supporters even on this board.

My top was Richardson at 21.
Bottom was Brownback at -21.

My politics don’t match much with the standard left/right split on issues (nor authoritarian/liberalist)

I just redid the test and got similar results as before

Paul 31
Kucinich 30
Gravel 27
Richardson, Biden, Obama, etc.

I really like Paul so his top position doesn’t surprise me at all, but all of the Democratic candidates are somewhat distasteful to me, so I don’t know why Kucinich (probably the most radical of the Democrats) is rated so highly.

I’m gonna guess at inherent bias as well.

This is an obvious attempt to get democratic voters to vote for Kucinich in the primaries. The top two choices of every single SDMB liberal are Kucinich and Gravel? I don’t think so.

Kucinich 49
Gravel 39
Obama 29

Romney -42
Tancredo -42
Huter -44

With 14, Paul was the only ® with a positive number

I didn’t know who “Cox” was, so I Googled and found this article, which explains why I hadn’t heard of him – he hasn’t been invited to the ongoing string of “debates”, even though he’s won a straw poll!

As for my results, the top four matches were:

McCain 14
Paul 10 (and I actually voted for him in the '88 presidential election, when he ran under the Libertarian banner)
Thompson 10
Kucinich 5 (when I lived in suburban Cleveland, I voted for him during several of his Congressional races)

Bringing up the rear:

Huckabee -8
Brownback -8
Tancredo -7
Hunter -7

Biggest surprise was that I actually got a +1 for Hillary, who’d be my eighteenth choice if I ranked these hopefuls from top to bottom on a weighted ballot.

I think basically, this thing is pretty much trying to convince me not to vote this election. 14% was the highest I got, and that’s not very inspiring.

Romney 14
Hunter 13
Thompson 9
Tancredo 9
Huckabee 8
McCain 7
Brownback 6
Paul 5
Cox 3
Giuliani 1
Clinton -3
Richardson -3
Edwards -3
Biden -3
Dodd -3
Obama -7
Kucinich -9
Gravel -13
