So I finally checked out Hank. HOLY FUCK. I mean, I was warned, but HOLY FUCK. I can’t believe the same guy who gave us all those great years of Frasier could be that horribly unfunny. At least Back To You had the potential to be be entertaining to some viewers. This show should be taught in film school on how NOT to do a pilot.
Fox does this a lot. Tru Calling is the only one I remember being picked up for a 2nd season and then canceled, but they do it with new shows, too. I think that’s what happened to New Amsterdam.
Yeah, both series eventually aired, but only to fill a timeslot, and only after a long delay.
ABC cancelled Eli Stone halfway into the second season. It was a nice show, too.
No need to over think it, if you ask me. They work for a real estate company. I just caught the first three episodes on abc.com. I have to say, I thought it was fun, and even had some laugh out loud moments. I’m going to start watching it. I’ve always like Courtney Cox. She’s a fine fine looking woman, I must say.
I posted about Mercy a while back.
The Forgotten isn’t horrible, but I don’t care for the “seeing the dead person in their last steps” thing. I’m recording it and working it in to my viewing schedule.
Already pitched Trauma and Three Rivers. Watched a couple episodes of Trauma, but can’t really like any of the characters. I can’t look at the blond without thinking “tramp whorebag” - they even made a joke out of her sleeping with her partners. “What’s the over/under on me sleeping with the guy? 17 days. Well, I’m going to make sure you lose that bet. Already did - I had 3 days.” Yeah. Rabbit is too annoying, the black guy is a whiny cheating bastard (poor me, I have to sleep around because I can’t take the negative things home to my family. HELLO, get a therapist! Or a friend!) The helicopter pilot I want to like but can’t. The only one who doesn’t actively annoy me is the skinny white guy, and they don’t show much about him.
I was going to give Three Rivers a shot, the first episode wasn’t too bad, but it’s on Sunday after football. That means it will never air on time. Since I record and watch later, that means I will never get to watch the show, I will see the last half of whatever and then the first half of the show. That finally killed Missing Persons for me, and I’m not going to bother another show. That network can lick my ass.

Maybe they’re treating it like cable channels. String the first handful as a half season, then pause, then string the next half season.
Cold Case, which is on after Three Rivers, is one of my regular shows, and this drives me nuts, too. Fortunately I’m usually home on Sundays, so I can check earlier [del]if the game ran late[/del] how late the game ran and adjust the record end time on my DVR accordingly. Since I can’t set it to start recording later, this meant that last Sunday I had the first 40-45 minutes of Three Rivers on my DVR. I decided to watch it, and was not impressed. I saw the cliches of the rogue doctor who defies his boss to save his patient, the overeager new guy who manages to come up with a way to save the day when disaster strikes (a twofer!), and the son who hated his dying father and later wishes he’d forgiven him.
Wow, a lot of these lasted longer than I expected. Looks like Hank is going to choke, but Accidentally On Purpose may survive - it kept most of its lead-in audience last week. Cougar Town was picked up (I actually like it) but Eastwick hasn’t been. Dollhouse is likely on the way out. But many of the ones I thought would go will probably stay.
I’m actually really liking Eastwick.
I’m not hating it. It is a little slow for me. The women are super-hot, but I want the plot to progress more quickly. I can’t decide between Kat or Joanna. Of course, neither one of them return my calls…
Those who were predicting Trauma were right.
By “picked up for a 2nd season and then canceled” I mean the word of cancellation came, and production stopped, before any 2nd season episodes aired. Plenty of shows have been canceled during the 2nd season, but being picked up then canceled before any 2nd season eps hit the air, that’s rare.
Hank Canceled - as is no surprise to anyone. And another thread pointed out The Dollhouse is toast. They will at least air all this season’s episodes.
