2009 NFL Draft Day Conversation

I am totally drinking the Kool-Aid with Donald Brown. Great player and great addition to the Colts. Kinda surprised they seem to be giving up on Addai as a full-time back, but those two are a fearsome tandem. What an outstanding fit.

The Bills are a complete mystery to me. Britton maybe?

ETA: Nope, another Center, Eric Wood to the Bills. Probably smart considering the run on the position. Love that WRs are slipping.

I’ve had some time to come to grips with what happened. Now that we had to get the quarterback, they felt like they had to get him weapons; that was the best way to ensure his success (nevermind the fact that keeping him upright helps, too).

God dammit. We still would have been better with the tackle at the first pick, Jeria Perry or Pettigrew at the second pick, and something interesting with the second rounder.

God dammit. I’m glad I don’t drink.

For a brief while Everette Brown was in the discussion for our pick at #5. It’d be pretty awesome if he fell to our 2nd rounder.

Went onto a Steeler forum to see what they were up to. I guess they were high on the idea of drafting Mack, so that’s nice. Now the Bills have drafted a center which further screws them. Whee.

YES! No #29 for Edwards. YES!

They don’t use full-time backs. They’ve gone with a 2-man combo since Edge left.

I can’t see Brown making it down past the Lions. I just can’t. Hell, I can’t see him making it to the second. Then again, to make it this long was a little odd already, s perhaps there’s something going on that we don’t know?

Whew…Nicks goes to the Giants. Excellent, he’s going to be a total bust. Hate this guy, will the Bears show some stones and go get Britt. He won’t last past the top of the second round.

Wouldn’t mind if the Browns traded from #36 to the end of the first to grab Beanie wells or Everette Brown.

Insert the ready-made Lions joke, but if any or all of those guys panned out, they wouldn’t have needed more receivers.

I’m just not that high on receivers this year. Outside of Crabtree and maybe Maclin and Harvin, there’s really not much here to like.
I WILL be proven wrong on this, though.

Heh, I fully intend to start as the Bears pick gets closer.

Drink for me, then. Don’t stop until the NFC North gets back to respectability.

And people wonder why the Patriots are so good. Do teams even TRY to avoid getting fleeced by them in trades? Getting a 2 and two 3s for the #26 pick is a good trade every time, much less in a top-weak draft like this one.

I agree mostly. I think Crabtree’s is a little overrated. Maclin is good but smallish. Nicks is a toad and Harvin will probably be Devin Hester. Heyward-Bey is probably Troy Williamson. But…Kenny Britt is special. The guy impressed me a ton on tape and in workouts.

I’m often wrong about WRs, but I really dig this guy.

I agree. Hell, I’d have liked to see the Lions move everyone out except the running back, the receiver, the left tackle, and the outside linebacker and get as many picks as humanly possible.
Is there a cap to how many picks a team can have? I know there is in Madden.

Patriots now have 4 picks in the 2nd round, and 4 in the 3rd round. They’ll package a couple of those for a first-rounder next year.

Damn, they know how to play this game.

Ugh, it might not be the wisest choice considering the 3 pounds of chinese food I just forced down my throat.

Kenny Britt to the Titans. No surprise, he’ll be great in that offense. I have always liked the Titans as my AFC team to occasionally root for, so if the guy had to go somewhere I’m glad he went there.

Why do you hate Nicks? (I don’t know that much about him).

I’m thinking Wells to the Cards and Unger to the Steelers in the next two picks.

I don’t care. Wallowing is more important than continuing your no-vomit streak anyways. If the Bears cared about your no-vomit streak, they’d have moved up to get him, right?

#1 Cards fan here. We’re taking Wells and releasing Edge.

But you have Jason Wright! He’s a 2000 yard season waiting to happen… go ahead and let Beanie fall a few more picks.

Saaaaaaaaay…you wouldn’t happen to have ulterior motives, would you?
