There isn’t going to be any luck involved when Favre, Moss and Percy torch that Green Bay swiss cheese secondary all day next week.
Lions QB, Hill, gets a broken left arm and a LB , Follet, gets carted off on a back brace to the local hospital. The Lions are better, but the record does not show it. We are down to Stanton ,and nobody else.
They can play with the rest of the teams in the division.
I thought I heard that Stafford was going to be ready to start again next week.
Where’s Joey Harrington these days? He’s a free agent, isn’t he? I’m sure Lions fans would love to see him trot back out that tunnel.
They have been waving Stafford in our face as maybe ready for next week for over a month. I believe it when I see it. Hill and Stanton have played well though.
Laugh if you want, but the Lions were the highest scoring team in football heading into this week.
The Vikes won despite not playing well on offense again. Hopefully the packers’ injuries will allow us to get our first road win of the year and vault us into 2nd place.
The Vikings weren’t great on offense, but at least they didn’t turn the ball over, and they moved the ball and got touchdowns.
Percy was really the sparkplug yesterday, but a lot of the Vikings are saying that Randy Moss made an impression with a halftime speech basically telling them to pull their heads out of their asses and start playing.
I have to say, no team in the NFC looks like a Super Bowl team, IMO.
From ESPN:
There’s something to feel good about on a generally crappy Monday.
I know Hester was probably happy that he just tied the record, but his team was still down at the time. Showboating into the end zone was really not necessary.
That was a pretty bad game by the Bears yeaterday. It didn’t seem like the Seahawks did anything special at all to beat them, and yet the Bears just couldn’t score. Lovie’s going to have to figure out where that bus is that the Bears get off of to run.
And the next time they’re at 3rd and goal with a yard to go (presuming they will be there again this year), put Henry Melton in.
Oh please. Hester’s celebration was minor compared to most and a possible game changing TD return is deserving. It’s not like they were down 30. Did you watch the Cowboys game?
Fuck that, they need to run the QB sneak. Works every time. Giving the ball to someone bigger and slower isn’t going to fix anything when the line allows so much penetration. It’s not like the Bears running game is getting stuffed due to lack of power from the RBs, we aren’t bouncing Garrett Wolfe off the line afterall.
Don’t sleep on Atlanta. Their first-half nonappearance against Philly aside, they’ve looked very, very good this season.
That was pretty mild as showboating goes.
I have far less of a problem with Hester showboating while tying the career return TD record than I do with every idiot who signals his own first down or does a little dance after making a tackle.
I’m looking at you, Miles Austin and James Harrison.
Minor news: The Packers have traded a conditional 7th round pick for S Anthony Smith of the Jags.
Probably won’t amount to much but the Packers are desperate in the secondary and I like that they are giving up draft picks, not that a 7th is likely to be a major factor.
They ought to give Dwight Smith a call. He’s probably still faster than any safety in the league.
The Packers have lost their starter from last year Bigby (who may not be back for a few more weeks yet), their starter this year (Burnett), and a backup (Derrick Martin) all at the safety position. I’m thinking Anthony Smith may want to think twice before coming back to Green Bay because it’s turning into the same thing as the drummer for Spinal Tap.
And since it’s minor bitching time, I rewatched part of the game and I’m wondering who the hell Rodgers pissed off to not get the roughing calls that most every other QB gets. Last week it was Jarmon’s illegal helmet to helmet that he got fined for, but not flagged for, and this week another one the commentators said the refs missed.
And while I’m whining, the refs also fucked up and kept the Dolphins’ TD drive alive. Robert Francois wasn’t within the yard..
I’m done bitching. Now it’s time to prepare to welcome the Vikings into Lambeau for a Sunday night game. I must say that I’m not really excited to see how Favre will do against our depleted defense this year. God I hope Matthews gets healthy.
I think the Packers should be really careful with Matthews and give him at least one more week of rest.
In all seriousness, the Vikings biggest issue right now is pass protection. They’re using their third string center, McKinney is overrated and Favre is getting beat up every game. I’d just as soon not seem him get chased all over the field by that long haired lunatic. Clay Matthews is the stuff of nightmares.
To continue the bitching theme. Matt Hasselbeck intentionally grounded the ball about 6 times last week and it was never called. One time the ball hit a lineman in the knees which would have been illegal touching too, not once was it called.
Jerome Harrison wasn’t flagged in the Cleveland game this week either. Sounds like the Steelers “Harrison gets held on every play” cabal has gotten a hold of the Refs to get even. Dirty fucker.
44 against the Rams skewed those numbers. But Stafford and Stanton have had a history of injuries. I don’t know how we can feel comfortable with either one or both.
Oh man, I cannot stand that. The Giants used to do that all the time, particularly Ike Hilliard. He did it every single time, and then it started spreading to Toomer and Shockey. I was glad to see it die down after Hilliard got cut.
Only to be replaced by the much, much worse “ballin’” mock free-throw sack celebration. That made me pine for the days of 1st-down signalling.
It sucks so hard when your team regularly does douchey celebrations. So, so hard.
Yeah, I’m not excited about it either. I was at the Packers / Dolphins game, and the entire second half (and overtime) felt like watching a train wreck in progress. No pass rush without Matthews, no ability to keep Brandon Marshall from catching the ball, and no ability to sustain a drive.
OTOH, Dio said something positive about a Packer player. I need to turn on the Weather Channel, and see if Hell just froze over.
