Sure, Stafford took the time to check his weight and height.
You think he would’ve tried to throw Peppers to the ground by his head?
Replace “Bears” in that parens with “Packers” and I’m right there with you. I also kinda liked Suh’s skills and intensity. But those good feelings have all but disappeared now. The Lions have gone from an underdog fighting it’s way into respectability after years of irrelevance to a bunch of undisciplined thugs led by a gigantic asshat. I’m happy that cough the cough cough Bears COUGH! CHOKE!! COUGH! won. (God that hurt.)
You’re probably right, but I hope you’re wrong. The Vikings played the Pack pretty well a few weeks ago in Minny. And that was Ponder’s first start. Woodson spent the second half watching Ponder’s eyes, picked off two passes, and almost picked off about five more. Add one defensive breakdown on a long pass (safety breaks on short route when he was supposed to cover the deep guy), and the Pack wins. Add in a mincing punt late in the 4th when the Vikes should have gone for a 4th down conversion (yes it was 4th and 10, but you only have one win… ).
It is the bright lights of Monday night in Lambeau, so I’m figuring the Packers do win rather easily. I’m hoping that the Pack is overconfident and AP goes berserk on Monday night. Since I’ll probably go to bed early, that will be my back up dream.
Bears were on a short week having played Monday. The Lions were coming off a bye week and had 2 weeks to prepare for the game.
That did not lead you to think the Lions could suck like that.
It’s mornings like this that I really miss Dio.
The NFC North division goes 2-2 this week, with the mighty Packers and the not quite mighty but pretty good Bears beat up on the lowly Vikings and the punk Lions.
It was an interesting week from my perspective. I gained a bit of respect for Lovie Smith, I lost a lot of respect for the Lions, and I felt really bad for some of the Vikings.
The Bears’ reliance on defense and special teams nets them another big victory. Over the last two games, I’ve been impressed by Lovie’s gameplanning his defense and putting them in a position to win. It seems he’s not playing as much Cover 2 all the time and mixing it up a bit more. I’m still confounded by the lack of downfield throws by the opposing teams, but kudos for having his defense ready to play. I still am unimpressed with the Bears’ offense, but when your defense gets you 4 int’s, your special teams get you a td and field position, your offense doesn’t have to be great. The Bears are certainly a playoff caliber team, but I still don’t see them as a Super Bowl contender with that offense.
The Lions looked like punks. I’m not sure how much of that atrocity was due to Stafford’s broken finger, but they got beat badly and reacted unprofessionally and thuggish. They made mistakes all over the field and their weaknesses were mightily exposed. I don’t think Megatron drops that many passes, Stafford throws that many stupid picks all the time, but if they aren’t on, this team had problems. We will see if this was a one game letdown or a sign of things to come. I still think they have a shot at not just making, but winning in the playoffs, but they do need to be more disciplined and not kill themselves.
The Vikings looked like they had two great players, a rookie QB, and a bunch of nobodies. Granted the Packers can make many teams look bad, especially at home, but it’s going to be a long rebuilding for the Vikes. Jared Allen looked amazing (Marshall Newhouse not so much), Adrian Peterson is great, but beyond that, there’s some big holes. Ponder had a rough day, which will happen with rookie QB’s, but that O line needs some work.
The Packers are simply the best team in the NFL. It was heartening to see their defense finally play well. Capers blitzed a ton last night, something he’s been reluctant to do so far this year, and it worked against the Vikings. Now I want to see that defense do well against a good team. And Aaron Rodgers is amazing. It is so fun to watch him play. Good times to be a Packer fan.
The fucking refs gave that game to the shithead Packers and their inbred, idiot fans! There was clearly holding on the punt return touchdown, there’s no way Harvin pushed off, and that fuckjerk Charles Woodson was interfering on every damn play.
Feel better?
That’s just what I needed, thanks!
Just blaming the refs is weak. You really need to make the point that it’s a global conspiracy to get the Packers to win.
If he was in his face at that time, he would have tried. He really did not check the players number against his program.
Well, everyone knows that Rush Limbaugh wants to own an NFL team, and the right wingers are making sure that the refs are bought and that the Packers are winning despite sucking because that will mean that … somehow … ummmm … that Rush will get a team.
I’m pretty most people can tell if someone is smaller than themselves without much effort.
Here is my completely scientific analysis of the odds of the packers going undefeated this year (with the added caveat that they actual play to go 16-0, i.e. not resting players at the end of the season):
Tampa Bay: Odds of winning 85%
@ Detroit: Odds of winning 60%
@ NY Giants: Odds of winning 65%
Oakland: Odds of winning 75%
@ KC: Odds of Winning 85%
Chicago: Odds of winning 60%
Detroit: Odds of winning 65%
Odds of going 16-0: 8.2%
So while they are favored in every game, it still results in a low probability. Even if they were favored 90% inn each game, the probability of finishing 7-0 would be 47.8%. Of course the odds of them going 9-0 to start the season are pretty low, but it happened.
Sure and Stafford made sure a small person took a shot at him. Remarkable control over the game that bully QB has.
The Bucs are going to end the Packers’ streak. It’s the sort of game we win.
Maybe if the game was in TB, but its at Lambeau, almost no shot for the Bucs.
The weather forecast for Green Bay gives a chance of snow overnight on Saturday night, but Sunday is predicted to be mostly sunny, with a high of 38. That’s too nice…a few inches of snow would have been good.
Well, the Bears put Gabe Carimi on the IR. That sucks. We put Chris Williams on the IR earlier in the week. The line was playing well, albeit without Carimi, hopefully they can weather this. They called up Ricky Henry from the practice squad to replace Williams, I don’t know anything about him really but supposedly the Saints had put in a claim on him and the Bears had to call him up or lose him. Not sure why the Saints chose now to make that claim, but if he’s any good it helps that the Bears had room so as to not lose him. They are also supposedly close to signing Jordan Black as a OT, he’s another guy I don’t know a lot about but he’s got some experience and he’s a Notre Dame kid. Street free agents aren’t typically anything to get excited about, but he did start 9 games last season and was part of some really great running attacks.
No way. The Packers are dominating their opposition. I was beginning to think Thanksgiving Day with Lions and Packers might be fun. Now I doubt we can stay up with the Peckers.
