2011 NFC North

Viking Fan Wanted.

Job duties: Apolgizing for McNabb’s bounce passes. Ref bashing. AP slobbering. Stadium fundraising. Migraine specialist preferred. Roofing repair. Some travel may be required, possible relocation to Los Angeles Area.

Pay: year after year of anguish, with 4 moments of shining hope, only to be dashed.

That is why he was banned. No Viking fans allowed.

Ref bashing is important because no matter how poorly the vikes played during a loss it is ALWAYS the refs fault.

Well, it looks like I have to step up and take over the spot. I’ll be Mr. Irrational Packers Basher.

Obviously, I have to assume this mantle because of blatant Packer sucking.

Packers don’t suck. They are just over rated. The Steelers suck.

There’s no such thing as irrational Packers bashing.

Green is such an ugly color on you.

The real test for you folks trying to fil lthe Dio void is going to come on Sunday. I really want to see you bring your A-game, we need your best irrational vitriol before we decide on his replacement.

Your NFC North games for this weekend:

Bears at Saints

The Bears looked damn good last week, shutting down the Falcons offense and some very, very good play calling by Martz (it hurt to say that). Yet they’re still 6.5 underdogs going to play the Saints. I guess Lovie gets yet another week of beating the “they don’t respect us” horse to death. The Saints will be sans Marques Colston, their #1 WR, but their offense was clicking last weekend, and Brees is way ahead of Ryan. I think this game will come down to two big things. 1) Whether the Bears can get pressure rushing only 4 at Brees and 2) How the Bears O Line and Cutler deal with Gregg Williams creative blitzing (hint, how the Saints handle the screen will be important). The Olin Kreutz/Urlacher’s mother storylines will make it a compellling game to watch also. I think the Saints win this one.

Chiefs at Lions

The Lions should walk in this game. The Chiefs looked like absolute garbage last week, and the Lions have been on the upswing since the last 4 games of last year. With Eric Berry done for the year, the Chief’s secondary should be a sieve (although I like that Brandon Flowers OK). If Jamaal Charles has an amazing game and can get to the second level on a consistent basis, the Chiefs have a chance. But I see nothing but a blowout for the Lions.

Packers at Panthers

Another “should walk” game. The Packers are 10 point favorites against the Panthers, and had their offense clicking quite well last week. Although there are issues with their starting CB Tramon Williams being hurt, I think they should be able to contain Steve Smith and DeAngelo Williams to win. The two things to watch in this game are 1) Is Cam Newton for real. It’s one thing to do what he did last week against the lowly Cards, but can he find success against the Packers? (the correct answer is No). 2) Will either of these teams establish the run, and, if they do, who will be the back to do it. Grant/Starks/D.Williams/J.Stewart are a foursome of players who could have big games if either teams decides to actually run the ball. But, all in all, Packers should have an easy win.

Buccaneers at Vikings

Two teams I can’t figure out going head to head. I was shocked at the year Tampa Bay had last year (I didn’t think they were that good), and stunned at their play calling in the first game this year. I was so very happy at the flailing around of the Vikings last year, and stunned by the play calling in their first game this year. What the hell is going on with these teams? Are they good? Bad? Ugly? I think home field advantage, lack of a pass rush by the Bucs, and a commitment to more balanced offense means a Vikings win, but I also think it will be a close game. Last year, the Bucs made their bones winning those close games, and they may do it again. Like I said, I can’t figure these guys out.

Prediction for the NFC North: 3-1.

Sounds good for the toughest division in all of football.

The Bears are an iron-clad, 100% lock to win today, according to my #1 rule for picking football: Tragic Team Wins. If a player on a team or a close family member of a star player on a team passes away, that team will always win that week. Bank it.

This one is for Urlacher’s mom…Saints are gonners today.

Forte is making a case to get paid a lot of money.

Jamaal Charles of KC looks like he blew a knee running into the Lion mascot .

So, what’s the point of reviewing every touchdown if you’re not going to overturn a play where the runner *clearly *steps out of bounds at the 1?

Lions are up 41 to 3. I would not worry about calls.

The refs are just plain horrible this game, for both sides.

Lions are up 48 to 3. Could Matt Millen possibly lose any more credibility?

Holy Lions, Batman!

Judging by the score it appears that everyone else on the team is making a case to be cut.

No complaints about the defense. The offensive line shouldn’t be cut, they should be shot.
