My criteria would be as follows:
Lemmy goes in first, then anybody else who wants to go in has to fight Lemmy.
Lemmy would also have to earn his way in by biting the head off of Ozzie.
I hope they don’t have to win, or no one would ever get in again.
Maybe they ruled 13 year old boys for a good chunk of the 70s.
Since Alice is a nominee I’ll be content that Rush and Kiss didn’t get nominated this year.
HOWEVER.
We are still not amused.
It’s certainly true that Gene Simmons was no great shakes as a bassist and Peter Criss wasn’t a virtuoso on drums. But you’re right, that’s not the point.
I mean, how much better could “Detroit Rock City” have sounded with Jaco Pastorius on bass and Terry Bozzio on drums? Probably no better, and maybe a lot worse.
Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, Dr. John, Darlene Love and Tom Waits are the inductees for 2011.

I agree, pretty good choices. The only one of the nominees I was really rooting for was Donna Summer and I’m sure she’ll get in eventually so I’m not too fussed about her missing out again.

I called four of the five inductees! Go me! I thought LL Cool J would get the nod over Tom Waits, but it seems there was no hip-hop love this year. Especially delighted for Dr. John.
