2012 Golden Globes on NBC Tonight

I love Ricky Gervais, but I feel awkward when the ‘talent’ doesn’t respond, (or responds negatively), to his comments. I’m surprised they asked him to come back.

I’m pissed **Parks and Recreation **and Community got snubbed. Nick Offerman, (**Parks and Rec’s **Ron Swanson), needs to be recognized! Does anyone else have complaints on the nominees? Is anyone else watching just to see Gervais say something that will be in the news tomorrow?

To paraphrase Ricky Gervais on a recent interview (Ellen Show?), “This is not an audience of wounded war veterans, this is one of the most wealthy, privileged groups of people on earth - of course I am going to make fun of them!”
I thought he was great last year, and looking forward to his comments this year.

As far as the awards, looking over the list I am finding I have only seen about half the films at best, and like only about half the TV shows nominated (others I have never seen).
So, for me it will just be fun to see the interaction of Ricky and his squirming audience, plus the half-crocked celebrities snapping up their Globes.

We are ordering pizza and plan to make a nice late afternoon/early evening (starts at 4:00 PM on the left coast). Looking forward to it!

Ricky to Johnny Depp: “Have you seen the Tourist?”

Johnny Depp: “Uh, no.”

Ricky runs off. He rests his case.

Johnny Depp & Jodie Foster prove very good sports, and Christopher Plummer is a true class act (and the Oscar favorite now)

She was laughing, to give her credit. There isn’t much you can do with Ricky but laugh at him. Cringing just makes him keep going.

Wow, Kelsey Grammer just won for that Boss show. Good for him.

Haven’t seen Boss. Never will. But I’ll never believe he was better than Cranston or Buscemi this past year.

I call shenanigans that Boardwalk Empire and Brian Cranston both lost!

And Ricky Gervais was supposed to be tweeting backstage, but so far nothing since he got there.

Who was that random Turkish woman?

Actually, Ricky could be Tweeting up a storm for all I know, since the GGs seem to have crippled Twitter altogether. I can’t post at all and only get about ten posts before an error message appears. I fear the fail whale is swimming towards shore…

Say what you want about Christopher Plummer, at least the guy had a rambling speech prepared. Everybody else is so flustered, even Madonna. I mean, you’re Madonna!

They’re not filtering out everybody talking over the speeches very well this year.

At least I’m recording Downton Abbey, just in case there’s another Seth Rogen-quality joke, LOL.

Wow. Lots of orange people.

Yay for Peter Dinklage!

It was a short speech.

(Haven’t seen Game of Thrones) He plays a dwarvish type? I thought he once swore he’d never play a role that was specifically written as a little person. OTOH, the guy’s gotta work and there are other guys of non-standard height who will grab it.

Dwarvish type? Yes, the character he plays, is a dwarf. Just not in typical fantasy style.

Seth Rogen standing next to the stunning Kate Beckinsale: “Hi my name is Seth Rogen and I’m trying to conceal an enormous erection.”

AWESOME!

It’s a kickass role & his performance is one of the best things in the series…

Not a dwarf as in an ancient race of bearded stonemasons, like Gimli. He has a normal-sized family–he’s just deformed.

Is Jessica Lange tipsy or just full of herself? I like her as an actress, but thanking “the writers” without naming any of them is a bit elitist.

Liking everyone’s gowns, especially Nicole Kidman’s.
