2013 Jeopardy! online test thread

Yes, komodo dragon and NOT gila monster, which is what I just realized I said out of “habit”. :smack::smack::smack:

Shit. There were quite a few that I got a little too late; didn’t have time to finish typing. There were maybe 20 that I absolutely knew for sure, about another 15 that I probably got right. Still, lots of misses . . . including simple typing errors (like “Hehry” the architect) that I didn’t have time to fix.

Aw. I put “gila monster.” I got Captain Nemo, though. My first literary crush!

I wonder how much they count off for typing errors - “Hehry” is pretty obviously a typo, and I typo’d “McFarland” for “McFarlane”.

I wonder if the folks looking over the test will use that old Jeopardy trap and count “Revelations” wrong? Or are they less anal about this than on the show?

I wrote “morning sickness”. I hope that they take both answers.

I think the test gave me hyperemesis gravidarium.

Once I got to the mid-30s, I started having that “when the fuck is this thing over” feeling. Not a good sign.

Well, Google says HG is different from morning sickness; other sources call it a severe form of morning sickness. So it’s anyone’s guess as to what they will accept.

WHOO HOO! For the Komodo Dragon (I misspelled it as Kimodo) and FUCK Capt. Nemo and all his fish watching!

I spelled it Kimono Dragon; think they’ll give it to me?

Hyperemesis gravidarum is excessive vomiting with pregnancy. I would think they would also accept morning sickness, maybe even dehydration.

What was the swordfish/Cuba book?
mmm

Old Man and the Sea.

All right, who’s got the complete question list?

Optimistically, I may have gotten 40 or so out of 50 on tonight’s test… depends how forgiving they are about spelling errors, and I was right in the middle of typing Seth McFarlane when I ran out of time… will “Seth McFa” count? probably not…

Totally missed a few I definitely should have gotten, particularly the Mekong.

Here’s a Youtube video of someone taking the test. He didn’t get them all, but he got in the mid-40’s.

And I’ll shut up now. I got 38, same as when I got a callback 2 years ago. In my defense, it sure didn’t FEEL like 38. I’m too tough on myself.

26 is “mechanic’s panics”.

Mechanic’s Panics.

EDIT: Ninja’d by Woodstock! Good grief!

I got 29/50, unfortunately. Got “cloud” and “bona fide” about two seconds too late. And plenty just eluded me. Oh well–one more try for the college test, maybe that’ll work out!

And I did “handyman’s candymans.” Which while I realize makes almost no sense now, I thought it was pretty inspired at the time!
