Albrecht was scary good. I think b/c of what happened to the teamplayer,UL refused to lose.
Great game! I just hope Pitino’s boy coaches as well as his old man.
There were some bad calls both ways, but I saw a few more in Louisville’s favor.
Just as importantly, the game, especially the first half was (non-) called very very loosely. By chance or design, Louisville came out of the gate playing very physically, while Michigan didn’t, and never seemed to adapt to how much the defense and pick-setters could get away with.
Of course, in a basketball game decided by 4 points (before garbage-time free throws), the winner is pretty much decided by chance anyway.
Ass kicker of a game. It was like two hours of vacant lot basketball; a hard-fought contest.
I’m looking forward to the Louisville women’s team tonight. I don’t know what kind of chance they have against a powerhouse like UConn, but there have been a lot of surprises this year. If UConn successfully mobs Shoni Schimmel, I don’t think Louisville is going to have much of a chance, but they sure surprised Cal under the same circumstances.
Breanna Stewart ftw! Grats to the UConn women’s team!
By all rights, this final should have been between Baylor and UConn. Man, that was downright embarrassing for Louisville. Both Shoni and Jude will be back next year, and hopefully they can recruit a couple of taller girls for the front court, but I don’t see them getting to the finals again soon.
Before this thread slips away into oblivion, I thought I’d wrap it up by asking: any comments on the change in scoring for this year’s pool?
Personally, I enjoyed having the bonus points for picking upsets, even though it means giving up being able to see “Points Remaining” in the standings (which kind of sucked).
My two cents…
I prefer the traditional scoring. If there is a way to add an “upset bonus” to the first round of games only (not counting the play-in games), I’d be for that.
But either way, it’s fun and I’ll be in next year as well.
