Lou Holtz, Nov 16: ‘Notre Dame Is Still The Best Team in The Country’

Current score, USC 35, ND 0

ND projected record 7-5

The Irish put in a fresh young QB, maybe they can climb out of the hole they dug themselves. Already started working on it, though 4 TDs is still quite a hole.

Meanwhile, I think the Seminoles are getting bored or tired or something. 3 picks in the first half. Leading, yes, by not very much though.

The games that matter to me today are the Egg Bowl and the Iron Bowl. Ole Miss is up 7-3 at the half, and Bama plays tonight.

Hoping to see State pull out a win, and set the table. Then they can win the SEC West with an Auburn upset, or still have a shot at the playoffs with a Bama win.

I’m rooting for the underdog in both those games and expect the Iron Bowl to be an awesome freaking football game this year; the teams match up well IMO.

Go 'Noles!

How much of a bump will Olé Miss get from this?

Where is the broom? ACC sweeps the SEC in the 4 in-state Rivalry games. Suck it SEC!! ACC Rules.

If Auburn wins the Fe bowl or Mizzou beats Bama in the SEC Championship…SEC is not in the 4 team playoff!

If Auburn wins tonight and it is a really bad day for the SEC.

WAR Fricking Eagle!!

(Why yes, I have been drinking this afternoon!)

Go Rebels!

Not enough to matter. They’ll be ranked outside of the Top 10, probably around 13 or so, and go to a second tier bowl game.

State will fall to around 8-9, and play in a decent bowl. Still a great season all things considered, but this loss really stings. State may not come this close to a national title again in my lifetime. :frowning:

It’s all on Bama now. Beat Auburn, then Missouri, then 2 more teams for another championship…

ND lost by a combined 59 points to ASU and USC, and by a combined 10 points in their other three losses, including a four point loss to FSU. Just sayin.

The Bears win on the strength of a failed 2-pter. Against the Red Raiders? That is some weak sauce.

Iron Bowl off to a great start. First play, Alabama kicks off short and out of bounds, giving Auburn the ball on its own 44. Next play, Auburn’s Roc Thomas drops an easy catch, then lets Alabama pick it up, not realizing it was a lateral.

To paraphrase Joe Louis, ain’t nobody gonna tell me this is the best conference in college football.

The big news of the day is that the Land Grant Trophy will remain in East Lansing. Bummer for OSU to lose another QB for the year.

The cockles of my heart warm with the SEC losing four out of conference games in one day. Now rooting for Alabama to drop today and next week.

Oregon will crush Florida State if the current rankings hold. They are not good.

go Tigers!

I agree with that but I’m not sure FSU gets by Tech.

Since about week 5 of this season, FSU’s next game is always supposed to be their first loss. Still waitin’…

Go 'Noles!

Enjoy it while you can. After a season of just squeaking by mediocre teams, I’d be quite surprised if FSU wins a semifinal game. And when Winston takes his classless act to the NFL, next year looks pretty bleak.

But you see…if you expect bad things, then when they happen they’re not really bad.

The SEC will start trying to claim that the SEC East isn’t really SEC. They’re like the distant cousins who show up at the wedding and embarass you.

Just wait. It wasn’t that long ago that teams like Tennessee and Florida were feared by their opponents and teams like Mississippi State and Ole Miss were considered cupcakes. Even the GREAT 'BAMA had the Stallings/DuBose/Franchoine decades.

Just wait. The East will rise again.
