So you think that if Republicans ran Todd Akin and Christine O’Donnell for the Senate in 2014 that they would have won because people don’t like Obama? Of course not, because they were truly terrible candidates. The R’s ran mostly good candidates this year, and good candidates tend to win elections.
Tillis wins! Damn skewed polls!
I did not see that one coming. I call that a genuine upset.
I’m a little curious when you noticed they were good. I agree with your analysis, but it seems to me that this observation could have been made earlier.
I thought your analysis was quite sound, actually.
Center for Disease Control, privatized, Halliburton.
Quinn loses Illinois governor’s seat to Rauner!!
Republicans are leading in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maryland governors’ races.
And in NY, the GOP picked up quite a few House seats.
Oh snap! Gillespie just went ahead again by 12,000!
Department of Education, privatized, Phoenix University.
Department of Labor, privatized, Goodwill Industries.
Now Warner’s back ahead. I’m getting palpitations.
By a healthy margin as well. I haven’t checked the closing map but last I looked he was losing every county except Cook.
Braley not only lost in Iowa, but his House seat flipped to the GOP.
I didn’t follow all the races equally closely, but a few thoughts: Ernst seems to struggle early with her weird pig testicle ad, and then seemed to get traction over the last two months. Purdue emerged from a very tough primary and beat Kingston, who was a pretty strong candidate himself, which says something. Rauner seemed to have momentum for a while now.
On the other hand, I have a hard time believing how well Brown and Gillespie have done. Brown’s an outright carpetbagger, and the NC legislature seems to be even more disliked than Congress. So, I think they overperformed, so my thesis may not be totally correct.
I will say, I just heard Ernst give part of her victory speech, and holy cow - her voice is grating. So maybe she won by smartly relying on print ads and not giving many speeches!
Palpitations? Dept. of Health. CVS Minute Clinic.
By the way, I predicted in some thread this morning that the GOP would hold 53 seats, so there’s that, too. It isn’t like I came up with my opinion just 15 minutes ago.
CBS had this headline in its scroll
Now that would be a total Republican wave. Win in a state you didn’t even run in.
Obama proves once again that he just says stuff. His policies will be on the ballot, but he doesn’t feel repudiated.
The GOP wave even hits the northeast: LePage and Baker win. GOP also poised to take Maryland and Connecticut.
