2015 NFL Draft - On The Clock!

Would it be better to say “you don’t get a chance at that often”? Because the top QB prospects are usually gone by pick 2, and 30 teams don’t have much of a chance at them.

He also pronounced Marcus’s last name as Marioto. Guy cannot get anything right.

QFT. Can’t hate on the Titans for this and it would be undeniably risky to pass on him. As I mentioned above it seems like a bit of a waste to spend a offseason grooming Mettenberger to start, so I wonder if he’s going to get shipped out. If I’m a team looking for a QB I’m making some lowball offers for him.

Jags get a future bust. Again.

Raiders should pick Williams, but will they go finesse instead?

Draft day is the only day I really miss Al Davis. His draft picks always made the day so much more fun, with all the experts scratching their heads while they try to figure out what the hell he is thinking.

3rd Pick - Dante Fowler Jr. - Jacksonville Jaguars
I like Fowler a lot, think he’s going to be excellent for them. I’m especially glad that Williams got past them, since there’s a tiny chance the Bears will be in play. I slightly prefer Beasley to Fowler, but Fowler is a safer pick.

I think they grab White (to my chagrin) and that’s a very Al Davis pick.

coooooooooper

ETA: Neat I got one!

I’ve been lukewarm on Mariota. Oregon has been a program that has punched above its weight; just look at where their players have gone in the draft. I know his O line was way overmatched against Ohio State’s defensive front, but he looked pretty pedestrian in the Natl Championship game.

Wow, and the Raider act in very non-Raider fashion.

4th Pick - Amari Cooper - Oakland Raiders
This makes a lot of sense, I don’t love Cooper because I don’t think he’s a top 5 talent but I do think he’ll be productive. The Raiders need safe, reliable productivity on offense for a change. White has far more upside and I’m a little glad the Bears won’t be tempted to take Cooper in a couple picks, but for the Raiders it quite reasonable if a little bit of a reach.

While you’re waiting, this is fun: How Do Draft Picks Get Personalized Jerseys So Fast?

The good part about Cooper is that he needs almost no extra polish. He’s ready-to-go. I still think Williams would have been a better pick if only for the inside-out building philosophy.

Scherf before Williams? Would support a trade up from #12 to #6 at this point.

Man guards have gone from being pretty undervalued to being pretty overvalued in the last decade.

Edit: This guy is projected as a guard, right? That’s what mock drafts listed him as. I’ve done very little research this year.

Especially with a lot of fairly interchangeable ones this year.

Overvalued? I dunno, the QB is the most valuable asset you have, and the O-line is what keeps his ass from being on the ground (literally and figuratively) I’d pick an 0-line practically every year if I could

**5th Pick - Brandon Scherff - Washington Redskins **
Mixed emotions on this one. Glad Williams is just 1 pick away from the Bears, but Scherff was a option I really liked for the Bears. I think Scherff is going to be a solid player, starting at OG and moving to RT, but hopefully he fares better than the last few Wisconsin OLs. I think he’s slightly better than Riley Reiff.

Next up, the Jets. What do they do? They are looking to trade Wilkerson, but otherwise they probably wouldn’t consider a DT. I think this is going to be our first trade, someone coming up for Williams.

Guards in the top couple of rounds for the last 3 years or so have gone on to perform consistently very well. Small sample size, but there you go.

come on come on come on…

Scherff is projected by many as a guard, but he could play LG, RG or RT. LT might be a stretch, but he is very versatile. Always a plus.
