2016 Omnibus College Football Thread

Go NAVY - Beat ARMY!

I jinxed them :smack:

Does Division III get to ride in the Omnibus?

Because for the first time in 10 years, neither UW Whitewater nor Mount Union are in the Stagg Bowl. In that span, the DIII Championship has been UWW (6 times) and MU (4 times). No one else. In the last ten years, with the exception of this last month, MU has lost a total of 6 games. Yes, they only losses are in the Championship.

But this year, new blood has arrived. UW Oshkosh and Mary Hardin-Baylor are going for the championship.

Mount Union is actually a DIII school that has connections to the pros. Pierre Garcon of the 'skins and Dom Capers, the Packers defensive coordinator, played there.

Will Lane Kiffin bring his magic and flourish at FAU, or will he continue his spiral into oblivion as a HC?

As long as he takes his talent and his face out of the SEC, I’m grateful.

I know there’s a lot of high school football talent in the state of Florida, but having him and Charlie Strong now in the mix has to make it more difficult for everyone to get those guys.

It’ll have the most impact on the 3 star guys. The 4 stars aren’t going to FAU or USF if they can possibly help it. The higher tier 3 stars who might be looking at UM, UF, or FSU, but would be backups behind 4 stars might choose to jump to get the immediate start under a “name” coach.

Nice end to the first bowl game. Stupid penalty probably cost a chance at a win. Nice going, dude!

I bet your team mates would like to present you the game ball. Shoved up into a display “area”.

Finally got that dang Roadrunner (or maybe they were just worried about making Pinkman angry).

Florida State! Florida State! Florida State! WOOOO!

That was one of the most bizarre final few minutes I’ve ever seen. That guy running that kickoff back while his teammate stood there wondering what he was doing was priceless.

Scumbag gets sent there a couple days early! Saban boots him before the Championship Game! Oh, The Schadenfreude! Wonder if he’ll still get a ring?

Hope this turd spirals down the drain and we never have to hear from him again. Or he’ll get fired at FAU, and get promoted to Microsoft CEO or something.

Luckiest fucking loser in the world.

On second thought, I’ll submit that the officiating of the Rose Bowl is fairly suspect.

Looking forward to the B1G excuse that they had to travel so far to these bowl games in Florida and the West Coast.

If it was a 8 team playoff, there would have been at least three B1G teams in it, if not 4.

Well, I would assert that Penn St. at least proved it was as legitimate a candidate for the playoffs as The Ohio St. Univ. was. I know they won’t like having lost the game, especially the way that they did. But there were B1G teams which did a much worse job under pressure this bowl season.

I’ve been hearing this from Penn State fans all night and I still scratch my head. The Nits lost to Pitt, got blown out by Michigan and just gave up 52 points to a team that lost by 46 points to Alabama. How does Penn State still make a case it should have been in The Playoff again?:confused::confused:

Because unlike the other Big teams they actually made their bowl game competitive against a USC squad that probably played as well as any team in the country in its final 6 weeks of the season. And Penn State’s performance over that same stretch is another argument for the Lions – they were a better team from late October until the end of the season than Ohio State. And ultimately they were the Big10 champions, which was made possible by defeating the Buckeyes.

As I said on another thread, I see the argument for OSU getting in the playoffs, but it’s a more subjective one. Going forward, the committee probably would do well to spare themselves the controversy and go with the conference champ.

I could be remembering wrong, but didn’t Michigan State make the playoffs last year because they were “more deserving”? Because of the mismatched bowl games that happened last year after OSU pooped the bed against MSU, I had no problem with OSU making the playoff this year. It’s easy to say in hindsight that they were no match for Clemson (or 'Bama), but who was? Penn State? Southern Cal? FSU? Louisville?
