2016 Super Bowl

Well, Talib is sure stinking up the place now.

I think the refs were late on the whistle though…

That drive was genuine Panthers. As much as I hated to watch it, I’m still impressed. Hope they don’t make a habit of it.

Shouldn’t have had to throw a challenge flag to get that call.

“You get two failed challenges” is the most obvious rule change to everyone in the world except the NFL.

The Panthers hit him before he caught the ball, and he still got 61 yards.

I have no idea how the refs missed the catch interference, but it worked okay for him.

So did the Panthers just assume that he’d called fair catch there? That’s all that I could figure. What a brain-dead play by the whole cover team!

OK, that one was a fucking fumble.

And the noodle-arm bites em in the ass.

The defense is ruling this one.

Is intentional grounding not a foul in the NFL anymore? I swear, that’s about three grounding calls missed between the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl.

Yeah. The useless announcers are saying that the defender turned around too soon, but that pass wouldn’t have gone to the receiver anyway.

Apparently it went beyond the line of scrimmage. Which I wouldn’t count as an exception, but it is, I guess.

I thought it was still grounding if the QB threw “in the grasp” to try and avoid the sack.

It’s only an exception if the QB is outside the tackle box, but Newton wasn’t, so I don’t know why that wasn’t flagged, or why the booth didn’t mention it.

Ugh, Phil Simms is like my favorite player ever, but he’s a shitty announcer.

That’s why I assumed it must be a part of the rule I didn’t know; the announcer said so. I guess I should assume that no longer.

The air-time on the 24-yard pass was insane.

That’s a good way to send Newton to the locker room. Let him think about that for the next hour.

Great defensive game. It’s interesting to see the game plan Wade Phillips has put together, and how well the players are executing it. I’m really hoping we’ll see a defensive player get the MVP. Manning and Can have done nothing to impress me. Which is the most positive thing I can say about them.
