I probably should’ve opened this up a few weeks ago to talk drafts, but it slipped my mind. I’m opening this up for general fantasy discussion of any sort you want. Strategy, sit or start questions, injury news, player predictions, gloating or bitching, whatever you want.
Real bullets start firing in a couple of hours and we’re off.
I’ll start it off:
Pick 2, standard scoring (non-ppr)
Allen Robinson @HOU
Terelle Pryor vs PHI
Martavis Bryant @CLE
Sammy Watkins vs IND
Marvin Jones Jr. vs ARI
I don’t know how to treat these WRs yet. I have high hopes for them all this year but I’m not sure anyone is going to come flying out of the gates. I’m concerned Pryor hasn’t looked in sync in the preseason. I think Martavis Bryant will probably hit the ground running, he’s a man on a mission. I don’t know if Bortles can still manage to get so little out of Robinson’s talent.
Also, a similar situation in another league: Pick 2 of
Pryor, Bryant, Demaryius Thomas vs LAC, Allen Robinson
And for RBs: Pick 3
Lamar Miller vs JAX
Rob Kelley vs PHI
Isaiah Crowell vs PIT
Ty Montgomery vs SEA
Who sits in that group?
Looks like yahoo rewrote stat tracker without flash, which is nice. Not a major design rework but everything looks good.
Mild annoyance, whenever I glance down at all the games, I hate that when one team has a touchdown it shows who scored the touchdown for a few seconds, but then it shows who scored the PAT for the next 5 minutes. Yeah, I get it, their kicker got an extra point, show who got the TD.
They did add live win projections to the matchup page, which is a nice new feature. You used to have to go to the league page for that.
So far, drafting Zach Ertz in my money league looks like a good idea. I entered the league as defending champion and I had David Johnson, Devonta Freeman, and Jay Ajayi as keepers.
Glad I didn’t chase this one in our auction leagues, and it is why I hate picking first in snake drafts. No one is immune to the injury bug, but when so much goes into a single player, it really impinges your fantasy year. And, of course, the Cardinals year.
12 team full point PPR money league. I’ve lost David Johnson. We start 2 RB, 2 WR, and a RB/WR
Current roster:
David Johnson RB
Devonta Freeman RB
Jay Ajayi RB
Giovani Bernard RB
Chris Thompson RB
Charles Sims RB
Stefon Diggs WR
Keenan Allen WR
Martavis Bryant WR
Zay Jones WR
John Brown WR
I am carrying two QBs with Jameis Winston and Matthew Stafford. I won this week, 110-90. I’m thinking no need to panic, yet. I won this league last year. Right now, I’m thinking I should play with the team I have and not panic on the waiver wire today.
I keep debating between starting Matthew Stafford on the road at Minnesota or Jameis Winston at home against the Giants.
Right now, I"m leaning Winston since it’s a home game and the Giants seem like a team that is ready to implode. Still, Winston has had an interception problem.
The gameflow probably favors Stafford having to pass more, I’m guessing TB/Giants will be lower scoring and the Bucs will run more. Vikings and Giants are roughly equally good against the pass so far this year. I’m not sure home/away correlate too strongly to passing yards. I’d probably go with Stafford but it’s close.
Is it ever acceptable to punt a week in a money league? It’s a keeper league, so I can’t just drop guys on bye weeks to build the best possible lineup week by week. After the Thursday game, my opponent already had 49 points from Amari Cooper and 14 points from the Chiefs kicker. I lucked out with starting Jameis Winston, my other QB is Stafford who is on bye. But, I started John Brown who I knew was going to play over the questionable Mohamed Sanu. I work Sunday nights so I didn’t want to have to try to make a last minute change if Sanu didn’t go, but I pretty much knew I was going to lose this week. I probably would have also grabbed another QB since there was a chance that Winston could have been knocked out or pulled quickly today.
The short version is, I started an OK team, but had already accepted the loss after the insanity of the Thursday game.
Yeah, I think it’s alright. Some people deliberately draft around punting a week, picking a bunch of people on the same bye. Obviously it’s preferable if you can change your roster in time to account for questionable players, but I don’t see anything questionable or wrong there.
In my money league, this is a strongly suggested win week for me, we’re all bunched up at the top of the standings except for a couple of teams which are building for next year. QB, Stafford or Winston, I’m leaning Stafford due to Winston’s injury. D/ST, I’ve got the Eagles and Jaguars, I’m leaning Eagles but ESPN has the Jags ranked 1 and the Eagles 2.
I assume I can’t trust Martavis Bryant at all this week and I’m better off starting Tarik Cohen as my RB/WR flex this week, correct.
There’s not much on waivers, right now the top WRs are
Terrelle Pryor
Eric Decker
Josh Doctson
Allen Hurns
Doctson is an intriguing pick up and I can easily drop Jameis Winston to pick him up. But, I’m also thinking the Bears will have a big game and Cohen can get me at least 10 fantasy points.
I’d drop Bryant for Doctson at this point, although the Steelers said they’re bumping up Bryant in training reps, but Doctson looks like he’s starting to develop too. Cohen over Bryant, yeah.
