Your post #99 contained 38 events. In post number 100, you reported another event, but numbered it 38. Shouldn’t the new one be number 39?

I added all the events in #99 and I make it 175 killed, not 169.

As others said, this is probably off-topic here. Nevertheless Thank you Typo Knig for bringing it to our attention. If we trust the graphic there was a sudden jump from 0.75 to over 1.0 in the rate of Homicides by Firearm when Florida’s SYG law went into effect! :eek: That is quite huge.

Oddly this even does not count as no criminal charges can be filed against the dead driver:

1 October 2017 Greensboro NC, 5 killed (vehicular homicide) (Police: Car involved in crash that killed 5 people in Greensboro was falsely reported as stolen)

The driver of a stolen car managed to kill five including himself. So he was not charged and so it does not count. Still it is obviously a criminal act. Grumble.

I’d also like to say “thank you”, Paul and express my agreement that this is important.

VICE thought so last year. That link has a brief description of every mass shooting in the US for 2016. The first took place on 6 January; the last on 31 December. Criteria for inclusion can be found at a link at the top of the page.

For 2016, VICE found that there were 392 dead, 1,502 injured in mass shootings in the US.

It looks like there could well be more fodder for this thread at years end, if not before then (and holy cow do I hope not before then and not even then).
