2018 Election Day Thread

MSNBC calling WV for Manchin.

It’s the toss-ups that are going to determine whether the Dems have a wave, a ripple, or get sucked into the undertow.

Hard to believe, but some towns & polling places are humming like clockwork. I visited my local polling place, which was obviously busy (20 poll workers!), but there were only 3 people in line in front of me, and I was in&out in under 5 minutes. No hiccups; although when the poll clerk attending to the person in front of me couldn’t find the name (“Are you sure you are registered?”), she realized she was looking in the wrong place, and found it 10 seconds later.

I volunteered to provide rides to anyone who needed one to the polls, left my name & number at the town clerk and at a local volunteer ride service, but no one called me. Guess the invalids and procrastinators voted in advance by absentee.

Our clerk told me that if I brought someone to the polls who couldn’t easily get out of my vehicle, she could bring the polls to the car, sorta like “curbside voting.” We have a spare wheelchair for public use, but this is even better. What a service!

This must be terribly hard on poor old Trump. CNN reported earlier that when the Dems appeared to be taking a big lead, he was blaming Paul Ryan for everything. But one has to be careful not to jump the gun – if Republicans do better than expected and retain the House, everyone must know that it was solely due to the brilliance of Trump’s gigantic brain and absolutely nothing else!

Democrats are not winning any of the close ones.

Florida is looking very very bad for D’s Gillum and Nelson with 96% of the vote counted.

Fox News calling TN for Blackburn.

Late votes in FL always break Dem. I hope they don’t.

Lets not ignore that it makes for good television to drag all this stuff out, it makes a good story when the Democrats come storming back. Like here in Georgia lots votes still out in normally democratic areas.

FL’s amendment to restore voting rights to non-violent felons passed BIG, which should help Dems in future elections

What websites are you guys using? NYT is nowhere as helpful tonight as it was two years ago.

Michigan’s proposal to legalize Marijuana is doing fairly well at 56%.

Some Dem woman named Horn is leading the incumbent in…OKC??..that seems like a big deal. I didnt know if any of the OK seats were even up for grabs.

CNN is providing a live feed, as they also did in 2016.

They haven’t won VA-02 and VA-07 yet, but the Dems lead in both with most of the votes counted.

Fox News says others are calling the FL Governor’s race for DeSantis, but they are not ready to do so.

Seriously. Im calling FL for Dems in 2020 right now.

Im not kidding.

Nelson has a chance, but not sure about Gillum. In the end, I’m more bullish about Gillum’s chances than Abrams’ in Georgia. But it would suck of the Dems go 0 for 2 in the Southeast.

So apparently my nephew, John Doe III, accidently voted under my father’s name (John Doe Sr). The poll worker’s solution was to have my father vote under my nephew’s name.

Scott Walker out to an early (very early) lead.
