Suddenly I feel the urge to listen to Whitesnake.
“Starchitect” Helmut Jahn, at 81 of a cycling accident. Designed famous buildings including many in Chicago (Thompson Center, Terminal 1 at O’Hare). Tribune article.
No points but deserves a mention: ‘Saboteur,’ ‘St. Elsewhere’ star Norman Lloyd dies at 106.
Steven Spurrier who put California wine on the map after he brought a bunch of Napa wine to France and organized a blind tasting against some pretty decent French wine in 1976 died back in March.
The film Bottleshock was about that event, a very predictable and probably inaccurate movie, but it does have Alan Rickman so there is that.
Commasense does get a unique pick for Lloyd.

Graeme Ferguson, filmmaker who with three friends formed Multiscreen Corp., the creators of IMAX, dies of cancer at 91.
Not really a celebrity but IMO a noteworthy individual nonetheless: Spencer Silver has passed away at 80.
I somehow missed this news. It’s a bit interesting that two of his most iconic works, O’Hare’s United Terminal and the Thompson Center were both slated for demolition/reconstruction in the last couple years.
I shudder to imagine what his headstone will be looking like.
Objection! I’ve always heard that it was Michelle Weinberger who had invented that.
I love that movie!
Jerome Young, who wrestled in Extreme Championship Wrestling as New Jack, has died at 58.
Damon Weaver, kid reporter who interviewed Obama at White House, dies at 23.
Buddy Roemer, who rode a message of reform in the 1987 governor’s race to vault over three challengers and “slay the dragon” — scandal-torn three-time Gov. Edwin Edwards — but who lost reelection four years later to the same rival, died Monday in Baton Rouge.
Roemer was 77. Ill for months, he died of complications from diabetes.
Roemer was a Democrat-turned-Republican, but he seemed too independent and headstrong to fit well in either party.
Don Kernodle, WWF and WCW wrestler best known for teaming with Sergeant Slaughter in the Cobra Corps has died at 71.
Actor Charles Grodin dead at 86.
I will always remember his part of bail breaker Jonathan “The Duke” Mardukas in Midnight Run.
See you in the next life Charles…
(Spoiler alert for the end of Midnight Run)
Well, she was a businesswoman. Had a suit and everything.

Actor Charles Grodin dead at 86.
Another guy who was on my list for years, but I dropped him recently.
I used to laugh at his antics on Letterman.
