2021 SDMB Celebrity Death Pool

I will never look at a carrot the same way again.

Curtis Price, alleged hitman for the Aryan Brotherhood, has died in prison while awaiting his execution date. He was 74.

I only knew Sean Lock from YouTube clips of 8 Out Of Ten Cats and 8 Out Of Ten Cats Does Countdown, but he was hilarious on there. He was a little overshadowed by Jon Richardson, I think, but only because Jon was Jimmy Carr’s favorite target, so had more opportunity to shine. But Sean was a genuinely funny man. RIP, Mr. Lock.

Joe Galloway dies at 79. This one hurts. He was probably too sick to see what was happening in Afghanistan which is probably a good thing but I would have liked to have read his take on it. This one hurts.

He was a comedian who made other comedians laugh, a very hard task. Jimmy Carr found him to be hilarious.

Actor Frankie Mossman, best known for Spartacus, has died at 33.

It was reported in the fall of 2018 that former Detroit Tigers catcher Bill Freehand had entered hospice. He’d been on my list ever since.

Today he earned me 21 points. Bill Freehan, Detroit Tigers and Michigan great, dies at 79

When I was a kid the '68 Tigers felt like forever ago. I was in first grade when they won in again in 1984 and I thought of that team as the modern one. I, of course, realize they have not won it again and 1984 is now MUCH longer back than '68 was at the time.

And Denny McLain is still alive? I’m glad he cleaned up, but few would have expected him to outlive other '68 Tigers.

I was in fourth grade when they won it in '84, and that was a defining moment in my life. My father-in-law was in fifth grade when they won in '68, and that was his defining childhood moment. He’s feeling today how I imagine I’ll feel when Lance Parrish goes.

(Side note on the mortality of World Champion Tigers: My absolute favorite Tiger growing up was Dave Bergman. I’ve got a shoebox full of Bergman baseball cards. I have an authentic jersey with his name and number. He died on my 40th birthday. Talk about a kick to the teeth on a day I was already feeling old.)

Artist Chuck Close has died at 81. RIP Mr. Close; you done good.

I’ve seen many of his works; his art is truly breathtaking and wonderful.

Hiro – AKA Yasuhiro Wakabayashi – fashion photographer, dies at 90

Scott Smith, AP reporter in Venezuela, dies at 50:

I thought he’d been dead for years.

Well, I had thought that I had been dead for several years but just woke up the other day to realize that dirt used to be older’n me,

Western Carolina University offensive line coach John Peacock dies unexpectedly at age 32. COVID related.

Don Everly of The Everly Brothers has died. Different sources list him somewhere between 82 and 84

Id never really heard of these guys until I heard this on a Fallout 4 mod. They rocked. RIP.

Wow. I’ve been a fan of the Everly Brothers since the late '50s. RIP, Don.
