My wife said “Omar Little died” and my first thought was, the Doper? (My second thought was, wait - how would she know?)

It’s nice to be back in first place. Especially because it’s only the second time I’ve participated in the Death Pool.
French soccer star Jean-Pierre Adams dies after 39 years in a coma following a botched knee surgery in 1982.
Adams was 73 when he died.

I read about this. Was there any chance he was conscious in any way during those 39 years?
Interesting tidbit: all eight players that have >100 points have both Tom Parker of The Wanted and Shannen Doherty of 90210 fame on their lists. If one of them should die, it won’t change who’s in the top eight, and it won’t change the order among them.
I’m not a doctor, and I don’t have access to his medical records, but everything that I’ve seen indicates that he never woke up. There was a mixup by the anesthesiologist when he was undergoing surgery for a ruptured knee ligament. His brain was oxygen starved, and he never regained consciousness.
At the bottom of the copy, it says “This is a developing story and will be updated. ” So, um, what is likely to change here?
Did we note the death of Greek composer and politician Mikis Theodorakis at 96?
ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Hundreds of people, some carrying flowers, gathered Monday at Athens Cathedral to pay their final respects to Greek composer and politician Mikis Theodorakis, who was an integral part of the Greek political and musical scene for...

As the Paralympics wrap up, I was wondering on what the thought is about someone who is a paralympian due to a “life limiting” condition but who nevertheless gains fame through their athletic endeavours. If they subsequently die of the condition … does that mean they are only famous due to their illness or are they famous due to their athleticism?

My vote (that means absolutely nothing) is that they are famous for their athleticism.
Totally agree. Don’t mean to sound crass, but a fair number of people are disabled, and many die because of their condition. Only a select few achieve fame through athletic endeavors.

I think “solely” is pretty clear here:

Valid picks are not:
…
g. famous solely as a result of their illness or associated actions/events.
…
(I believe “associated actions/events” means the likes of “Hold my beer … ”)
Erik Cowey , who was featured on Tiger King , has been found dead in a NYC apartment. He was 52.
