2022 SDMB Celebrity Death Pool

Famed sculptor Claes Oldenburg has died at 93.

Damn, I had no idea he was still alive.

Do we have a thread about people we had no idea were still alive, until they came across our radar in some fashion? (I’m thinking about those still living, as well as the recently deceased.)

The other day, Bob Avakian, the leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA, was briefly in the news. Back around 1980, there were graffiti about him around DC: “Free Bob Avakian! Release the Mao Tse-Tung Defendants!” which is basically how I know of him, and what I knew about him before looking up his Wikipedia page. Anyway, he’s 79 years old, but given how long it had been since I’d heard of him, I’d have assumed he was dead.

That would be the Who are our current Abe Vigodas thread over in Cafe Society. It hasn’t seen much action lately, it’s last post being a couple of months ago.

Lenny Von Dohlen, actor best known for Twin Peaks dead at 63.

Pat John, First Nation actor best known for Canadian Broadcast Corporation’s. The Beachcombers dead at 69.

Also…

Thats it! No more hats for me!

El sombrero es la muerte!

Oddly enough, Blaque showed up last night as a cop on an episode of Taxi.I didn’t even have to look up; as soon as I heard the voice I knew it was him.

The roles that news articles choose as “best known” seem weirdly arbitrary sometimes.

Can’t really argue with Titanic - I mean, everybody saw him in that one.

Yeah - Titanic? Really? The Omen, sure, but I would have gone for Tron or Time Bandits as one of the more obvious ones.

End of line.

Not Time After Time?

First Henry, now Paulie.

OMG, I had not heard this. What will happen to the Ring of Fire?
