Also killed in the accident were two of her staff members.

He passed away in July, but I did want to note the passing of Richard Taruskin, an absolute giant in the field of musicology. He was a man dedicated to challenging conventional wisdom at every step, often turning it completely on its head. His enormous book The Oxford History of Western Music is still a standard college text.

Anecdote: my wife once had a nice chat with him at a conference where they were sharing a table, not realizing who he was until she turned up to the next panel session and he was on it. :exploding_head:
