2022 SDMB Celebrity Death Pool

Blerg, I had him last year but dropped him this year.

Sad to hear of his passing, but … Woo Hoo! you made dropping Oliva Newton John off MY list sting a little less.

aka the Betty White point.

Virginia Patton, the last adult cast member of Its a Wonderful Life dead at 97.

Interesting footnote to her life, her uncle was Gen George S. Patton.

CNBC is reporting and Wikipedia shows that Juilan Robertson has died at 90.

Gary Gaines Texas HS coach famous by “Friday Night Lights” at died at 73.

Was it a wonderful death?

Anyway…

David Kay found his mortality.

pointlessly pointless

Len Dawson has passed. All of his passes are now in the past. Age 87.

Loved watching that guy play.

A little before my time but I did watch him on Inside the NFL a lot. For a former player he was a good broadcaster. He was on my short list but didn’t make the cut.

Sorry to see Len Dawson go…but I finally get on the board with 13 points!

For many years he was on the Chiefs radio broadcast team and also sports director at Channel 9 in Kansas City. I’ll have to watch their local news broadcast tonight, I’m sure there will be a tribute. RIP Len!

I was surprised to see myself on the board - I thought I’d gone 0-for-2022. But I looked back and realized I had Olivia Newton-John. Like my only score of last year - Hank Aaron - those are points I’d rather not have.

Next year’s list is gonna be all televangelists, Republican politicians, and Fox News hosts.

The bolded part is certainly a bust this year! So far. I’m still hoping.

Say, I have a few people I’d like you to add to your list. Mostly guests and co-workers.

Joe E. Tata, the actor who played Nat on Beverly Hills 90210 for its entire run, has died at the age of 14 Death Pool Points.

As someone who watched 90210 as a guilty pleasure in the 90s, and re-watched it as a guilty pleasure last year, I’m guiltily bummed by this news.

During the playing days of Len Dawson, and the coaching days of Hank Stram, the Chiefs popularized the ‘choir huddle’, where the quarterback faces the rest of the team, like a choir director leading the singers.

Tonight, in the opening series of the preseason game against the Packers, Mahomes and the Chiefs honored the memory.

I watched every episode of that show. My girlfriend loved it. And, because I was a hormonal teenage boy, any excuse I could come up with to lay on a couch under covers with her was well worth the time.
