Was Gallagher ever funny? I used to laugh when I was a kid seeing his specials on Comedy Central, but I wonder if it was just my ceaselessness.

I always saw him as more of a spectacle, like David Letterman dropping things off of the roof of his building. Difference is, Dave was more than just a spectacle. If I could’ve, I’d have fast-forwarded through Gallagher’s stand-up to get to the smashing part.
