Ginnie Newhart, wife of Bob, and reportedly the person who came up with the surprise ending for Newhart, dead at 82. (Bob Newhart is 93.)

Wow, never heard his wife came up with the idea. I was a kid and had not watched a lot of the show(just here and there), but I saw that final episode live and my Dad had to explain to me what had happened. I remember that “live on tv” moment forever.
Same here, although I was a regular watcher of Newhart with my mom. She had to explain what was so funny about the ending. But, yeah, it’s one of those tv-watching moments I still remember.
I remember him in The World, the Flesh, and the Devil.
