I’m rooting for Minnesota,* but I jump for joy every time Towns commits a foul, so he’ll sorbe more time on the bench, where he belongs.
*though I’m happy to see Dallas winning
General NBA complaint: This year they’ve gone too far in treating to get every referee call just right, by having numerous “official reviews” (of video footage), plus those coach’s challenges (same)… delay after delay.
It’s good they want to get calls right — okay, fine, maybe toward the end of a close game, okay — but it’s too much. A few bad calls now and again would be worth skipping these interminable delays.
I agree for the most part, but I’ve also seen too long of a break cause the team that’s waiting to lose its edge. Best, I think, would be for Dallas to wrap it up in game 5. Three or four extra days of rest is enough, I think.
MN managed to pull off a 5 point win last night, so if they do go down in flames in the next game, at least it will be a short trip home. This team is too easily flustered, it seems. They depart from the game plan and that’s when Dallas makes a comeback. It has to be frustrating for coaches to watch. In last night’s first half, the Wolves started out with their stellar defensive tactics and ball movement. As soon as Dallas made a run, however, they got sloppy and stupid, racking up bad fouls and turnovers.
Towns doesn’t just make fouls, he makes the dumbest fouls of any player I’ve seen. Two seconds left on the shot clock? Hey, foul someone who doesn’t have a prayer of making the shot. Also, retribution is not a good game plan.
If I may pitch a bitch here about the NBA. I really object to them aggressively pushing online gambling at every chance. This includes players, announcers and commentators.
This isn’t going away anytime soon. The NBA (and other major leagues) are partnering with the gambling companies. (This is a 2021 article, but it’s probably still true.)
Along those lines, a high-roller sports bettor cashed big last night:
And fucking Stephen A. Smith makes the same stupid joke whenever a picture of him comes up in a gambling advertisement: “That’s one good-looking brother.”
Turned off the TV at the end of the 1st quarter of game 5. Doncic is scoring at will and the Wolves are playing like scared amateurs. The coach is livid. Pathetic.
The first four games were at least close, but this was a blowout. I expected to wake up and find that Doncic had scored 60, but instead it was him and Irving scoring 78. What an embarrassment. Well, it was nice watching the march through the season after 12 years of disappointment in Portland.
The current odds are the Boston Celtics (-225), Dallas Mavericks (+180). I have to write this next part down because this thinking doesn’t come naturally to me:
● Boston Celtics (-225) means you bet $225 to win $100. You walk away with $325.
● Dallas Mavericks (+180) means you bet $80 to win $100. You walk away with $180.
Let me know if that’s inaccurate.
Here is the schedule.
