2025/2026 Snow Thread

And so it begins.

Just looked out my window and I see the rain is turning into snow.

Last year’s thread:

Here in West Central Montana, the top third of the Bitterroot Mountains is covered in snow, and it’s predicted to start snowing here in the valley at some point this week. I, for one, will be leaving for much warmer climes on Tuesday in an effort to avoid the snow for a few months.

It can be fun to visit but I wouldn’t want to live there.

Bozeman MT here–the snow line is just above our house currently. Leaving for Fiji Tuesday. Snows are on both vehicles and the plow is on the tractor…

Theoretically, Merrylande is in for higher than average snow this winter. I guess we’ll wait and see.

Snow fell at Mt. Rose a few days ago. Nothing worthy of note. I did bring in my tomato and pepper plants today. Nip in the air.

Lethbridge, Alberta here. Woke up to snow on the back deck this morning, and flakes falling from the sky. No accumulation on roads; it melted as soon as it landed.

But it will stick around soon enough, I guess.

Winter storm watch here in North Idaho. Schweitzer had snow overnight.

Well, we’re still regularly hitting just about 90F every day here in Dallas. I kind of envy you guys around this time of year. In February, not so much. The latter is what’s kept me from giving into my wife’s urge for moving that has a place that has all four seasons. o7

Yikes, in October??? You lot are made of tough stuff. If (and I do mean if) we get any snow this year, it’s unlikely to be before January, and even then it will settle for about 2 days max (England/Wales border).

I way, way lower in elevation now. Only 5000’. Partly to get out of the snow, and to get some oxygen.

But I did just purchase an EGO snowblower. I’m sure it will get good use.

I grew up in Upstate New York, in the small town of Latham NY near Schenectady and Troy NY. So I grew up with snowy winters. But I’m near San Francisco now and I still miss the 4 seasons. We have good weather here but I do miss the snow and I try to get up to Lake Tahoe every winter for my snow fix. When I was working and would do some winter business travel, I liked going to snowy winter places and (yes, call me a little sicko) I enjoyed driving in the bad weather. Except ice which isn’t a lot of fun.

You guys are a tough and hardy people! I’ve gotten soft living in the mild San Francisco weather. Can I live vicariously through you?

NE MN - we’ve had a fantastic fall this year. Warm temps and dry. We haven’t much snow in the last two winters. I’m curious to see what happens this year. At some point, we will get paid back.
