But did it include the Barry column?

Not to my knowledge, I’ll concede.

I can’t find it. The page numbers are too tiny on my phone.

The column itself is not about Packwood. It does have this typical Barryesque digression

I’m hiding this topic because I’ve learned over the years that some newspapers tend to censor
this column when it deals with sensitive issues. To cite one of many examples, back in 1990 I
wrote s column about politics, and the Portland Ore., Oregonian cut out a crucial section in
which I explained how snails have sex. Thus, because of one newspaper’s squeamishness, Oregon’s voters were deprived of information that would have helped them make informed decisions, which probably explains why Oregon is the only state in history ever to have elected Bob Packwood.

Wood, 92, won the Pulitzer in 1993 in the history category for The Radicalisation of the American Revolution, a landmark tome that advanced the theory of the break with Britain being at least as much of an internal social and political transformation as a desire to be rid of colonial masters…

His other prominent books included The Creation of the American Republic, 1776-1787, which was written in 1969; Empire of Liberty, an account of the early years of the United States; and Revolutionary Characters, a biography of the founding fathers who shaped the new republic.

He was also mentioned in Good Will Hunting, in the bar scene towards the beginning of the movie, when the guy with the pony tail (Clark) tries to show up Ben Afflleck in front of two girls. Matt Damon says, “you’ll be in here regurgitating Gordon Wood talkin’ about, you know, the pre-revolutionary utopia and the capital-forming effects of military mobilization.”

Robert Coles, Pullitzer Prize-winning author and psychiatrist who counseled Ruby Bridges and her family after the forced desegregation of New Orleans schools.

If you’re talking about the Dave Barry column, you won’t be able to read it on a phone. You’ll need a desktop screen.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha of Thailand has finally been pronounced dead at the age of 47. She was in a coma for three years.

Just announced: British artist David Hockney has passed away.

One of those “I thought he was already dead” guys.

We went to see one of those immersive “lightroom” shows based on his work. The stuff around his theatrical designs was fascinating.

Man I had her on my list for two years but figured we’d never actually find out if/when she died, so I finally took her off.
