I had him on my list last year:
Fortunately, an incurable disease must not be deadly in the short run. Perhaps I still have time to put him back on my list next year.
And if not, so be it.

I’m getting reports that Senator Lindsey Graham is dead.
There’s nothing on Reuters or AP about Graham.
After all these years, I finally get a political death and it turns out he’s on my ALTERNATE LIST? Grr. Still have McConnell though.
Did he ever get an an opportunity to speak with Mitch McConnell for about 20 minutes?
Did anyone else see the headline and briefly conflate Graham with McConnell?
mmm
I did! To be fair, it was 2:00 am or so when I read it.
Antonio Rattín, Argentinian football player who is allegedly the player responsible for the introduction of yellow and red cards, died aged 89:
The captain refused to leave the pitch immediately after German referee Rudolf Kreitlein dismissed him, saying he had not understood the decision because the referee did not speak Spanish.
[…]
The incident highlighted the communication problems between referees and players from different countries, and FIFA introduced the yellow and red card system at the following World Cup in 1970.
His version of the events is a bit different (quoted from El País, probably paywalled):
“That World Cup was rigged for the English to win. What happened to us was utterly underhand,” Rattín recalled in 2013. “Our manager had told me that if the referee made a bad call, I should ask for an interpreter, because I was the captain and the rules were on my side. I asked for one because that bastard of a referee was giving them every call, and the bloke sent me off,” added the Argentine, referring to the German referee Rudolf Kreitlein, who, following the match, was escorted away by local police amid complaints from the Argentine players.
No, but when my wife told me the news this morning, I said “Not Mitch?” Still keeping my fingers crossed though.
There’s a conspiracy theory floating around that Mitch is brain dead, and being kept alive until a certain date for election purposes. I can’t remember the details and don’t feel like looking them up.
Wow, lots of points going out this week. Lindsey Graham and Theo Burrell scored for several players, and Happy Lendervedder gets a unique pick with Dermot Murnaghan.

I’m not entirely clear on everything either, but as I understand things … if he dies before August 3rd, the Democrat governor, Beshear, appoints a replacement - but it must be someone from McConnell’s party (like Massie) - until a special election is run. After Aug 3rd, it just goes right to the special election.
Something like that.
If he “lives” to August 3rd, they don’t have to do a special election.
Ooh, good catch, thanks! The name didn’t sound familiar when I just read it so apparently I forgot I picked him.
@eschereal Derryn Hinch is on my list, so 18 points to me ![]()
Thanks for picking up the ball, @eschereal !
mmm
