2026 Celebrity Death Pool

No, but he gives Wheelz 12 more points, a unique pick and 24th place.

I believe that I still have a signed and numbered Peter Max somewhere. I’ll have to look for it since it likely just increased in value.

Bonnie Greer, gone at 77.

Woo-hoo!

When Bob Mackie died, I thought for a fleeting moment that I’d earned some points, until I realized, “wait, different guy.”

Former Blue Jays (Brian Wolfe) pitcher dies suddenly at 45

Israel’s oldest Holocaust survivor Yehuda Widawski dies at 107

Jon Kyl, former Senator from Arizona, checks out at age 84.

Sen. Kyl, set the pace for lying.

Former U.S. Senator Jon Kyl’s office famously clarified that a 2011 floor statement claiming “well over 90 percent” of Planned Parenthood’s activities involved abortion was “not intended to be a factual statement”.

Maybe. I don’t pretend to be an expert on the subject. I know he cranked out a lot of pieces over the decades. I went to a cruise ship art “auction” and he had a lot of items for sale. I’m guessing if you are filling cruise ship galleries your stuff isn’t going to be rare.

An unfortunate 16 points.

A few days ago it was reported he was in critical condition.

I just read that two years ago, Gary Sinise lost his son to spinal cancer. Sinise puts so much effort forward to help and provide for loved ones of killed service members. How tragic to learn an early death has occurred in his own family(son was only 33). Sinise is one of the good guys in Hollywood.

So he’s no longer barely breathing.

Randy Pederson, Hall of Famer and broadcaster for the Professional Bowlers Association, past away this week at age 64 it was announced. He had won several titles including a national championship, then was the color commentator for PBA broadcasts for 25 years. This made him the longest tenured broadcaster in PBA history.

Personal note: The PBA made a stop in my city and as a pretty decent regular bowler I thought it would be fun to enter the Pro-Am part of the event. I guess the PBA asked the pros to participate as an outreach to the fans. So when I show up, I discovered my opponent was to be Randy Pederson himself. This was back when he was in his prime bowling on the tour. During the match he was very nice, didn’t mind answering some questions, and even complemented me on some shots. He then proceeded to mop the floor with me. Hey -that’s the fun of testing yourself against the pros, right?

UK actress Stephanie Cole has died aged 84. I know her from such shows as Tenko (the prisoner of war drama), Open All Hours (the imposing Mrs Featherstone who found Arkwright so fascinating), Waiting For God (a sitcom about retirement), but the folks here will know here best from Doc Martin (Martin’s Auntie Joan), and of course for her role in the comedy radio series Cabin Pressure.

I will maintain that Used Cars is one of the best comedies of all time.

NOT DEAD - Carrot Top just attempted suicide and was taken to the hospital. I am actually not that surprised; I think he has body perception issues. He became famous for his dweebish look and red hair. He bulked up big time a long time ago. I suspected steroids as well.

NPR editor Rose Friedman has died at 38.

Aside: does anyone know why my just posting a link doesn’t create a preview anymore, like @Mahaloth has in the previous post? I thought it was the tab in the upper left corner of the edit options, next to the Bold toggle. But that didn’t change anything when I went into edit mode.

It depends on the site. NPR may not have a server that is able to generate preview embeds. I think this is the case with MSN and a few other major sites.

Some paywalls will also block previews. Some don’t.

Longtime NFL executive Ernie Accorsi, the architect of the New York Giants team that pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history, has died. He was 84.

The Giants announced Sunday that Accorsi died Saturday, surrounded by his family
