I didn’t find an existing thread. I know there are a lot of fans of the original 24 here; I’m wondering what everyone thinks of the reboot.
I think it’s OK, but certainly not the same without Jack Bauer. The first few hours seemed a little slow, by 24 standards. It didn’t feel like the stakes were very high at first. The last couple episodes are ramping things up a bit.
I wish I liked it more, but I’ll stick with it for now.
I have it in my queue, but haven’t been able to bring myself to watch it yet.
I’m hesitant because I can’t help feeling, some magic just can’t be recreated.
Heck, I wasn’t even all that crazy about the latest 12 episode revisit by Jack Bauer himself. They should have just left it alone.
Well, CTU is as inept as ever. I’ve done some work in a Federal building. Nothing nearly as sensitive as counter-terrorism goes on there, yet the security is about ten times tighter than the schlubs guarding the CTU garage. Nobody gets in or out of the parking lot without a large iron gate sliding open. No contractors can work in the building without being background-checked and credentialed, and I don’t know of anybody who can verbally approve access that easily.
Also, Rebecca said she was using Tony Almeida to interrogate Henry because he couldn’t be traced back to CTU. But then she shows up in person to the site. Then, she allows her husband - the presidential candidate - to show up at the site. Then, she allows him to go into the room with his father! So much for plausible deniability.
Once I start a show I have a hard time stopping, so I’m sticking with this for now. But I may be out soon if this doesn’t improve. I could live without Jack Bauer if the writing weren’t so damn stupid. And Tony has been back for a few hours now and has hardly done anything. I hope that’s not all we get of him. Come on!
