"24" Season 2 Finale (SPOILERS)

Okay, the chick at the end… was that Mia Kirshner? I’ve seen allusions here to her being a baddie from season 1 (although I haven’t seen season 1 yet, so I’ll be breaking out that DVD set during the summer, while I wait for season 3 :D).

And Marie… I wonder if she’ll be around next season. Sounded like she was making a personal threat against Kate in their scene. Damn, she looked creepy and psychotic in this one! I half expected to hear her say, “Don’t get too close to the glass, Clarice…”

Great ending.

When the “Rich Yacht Guy” did the “It’s me. Do it” thing into the phone, I’m so glad they didn’t cut away to another CTU double agent. I was 80% expecting that, though.

They should have had Sherry shoot Kingsley. No way he wouldn’t have heard the chopper.

could someone please remind me who poison-hand-of-death girl (Mandy I think?) was…I don’t remember her.

Looks like my predictions from last week were pretty much true… in reverse. Instead of the war starting b/c Jack was half-dead, he just uses up another of his nine lives and springs right back into action. And everything else gets wrapped up within 45 minutes.

Poor Mike, he looked like someone shot his dog when Palmer let him go.

Was that Mandy from all the way back in the first season? I looked for her name at the end but didn’t see it. So why didn’t the Secret Service just bundle Palmer into the limo and charge off to a hospital instead of pointing their guns in the air?

Yes, that was definitely her. She was one of the bad gals that got away in the first episodes.

She was the chick who boffed the photographer to get his credentials for the assassin to hit Palmer, then bailed out of the jumbo jet and blew it up.

Definately. That scene had Hannibal Lechter written all over it.

Yeah. I was wondering that, too. Maybe Jack won’t be in the field next season.

I really wasn’t expecting next season to start right after this season.

That must have been a Stealth Helicopter that sneaked up on Kingsley. Like those Stealth Dinosuars that appear silently at the end of Jurassic Park.

Also, can anyone just walk into LA Coliseum at any time?

I thought it was way to easy to get the goods on Kingsley. The bad guy would never just come out and and say something like “Yes, of course, the evidence was false. BWA HA HA HA!”

Also, where did Jack get all that bugging and recording and satellite computer connecting equipment? It reminded me of a cartoon character who can always reach behind him and pull out whatever prop he needs at that moment.

And finally, what kind of computers does CTU use, that do everything exactly right in two seconds and never fail at the crucial moment? I want me one of them, as I sit here waiting for this post to S L O W L Y load on maybe the third or fourth attempt.

Yup, that was our mad plane bomber from season one! Amanda! The lesbian president-killer! Mmmmmmmm…assassintastic!

I gotta say, I’m very disappointed that Palmer allowed his staff to stay on board. David, more than half of your staff has proven that they think you’re flaky! Get rid of at least one of them! KaffPrescottKaff

At first, I was wondering if Assassin Babe had poisoned Pamer or was collecting his DNA without giving him a Lewinsky. When I saw Palmer staring at his hand, I half expected him to fall down with his face permenantly distorted into a joker-grin.

What about Nina???

What about the Drazens???

What’ll happen to Sherry?

What about Snitch girl? She above all deserved some kinda comeupance!

Like last year, the first 13 episodes were tremendous, the middle few (with the wacky misadventures of Kim Bauer) were ick, and it ended great. Maybe it didn’t answer everything, but that’s ok with me. I suspect Tony is going to step up next year and do most of the running around, what with Jack dying off and on all day, but I think Tony showed yesterday morning that he can be the tough guy when he needs to.

Can’t wait till the next 24 hours.

I liked Sherry’s scenes. For once, she actually seemed human.

Jack: We have to test it. Say something.
Sherry: I’m scared.

As good as he is with a gun, it was good to see Jack do some more hand-to-hand fighting. Hot-damn that was exciting!

I also liked that Kate and Jack didn’t end up smoochin’ at the end. I’m not as strongly against them being a couple as some people are, but it’s definitely something that should take time to develop.

All in all, an excellent ending. I can’t wait for season three.

They, uh, like just left the office of the guy who did the recordings…computer expert, ya know? Had all that stuff handy?

My take on her comment, “You’re not safe out there” (or something close to it) was that she knew about those fast-acting scary germs the hand-of-death girl used on the President, and knew that it was “Plan B”. Sounded like half threat/half warning to me.
I can easily see a large-scale outbreak of some weird and deadly virus next season.
My question is, now that Jack’s apparently used up about 6 of his nine lives how is he going to save the day? Especially when his heart is about to give out?
Will he get a pacemaker in Episode One and be kicking ass by the end of Episode 3? Of course this is Jack Bauer we are talking about, so yeah, probably.

Maybe it won’t. We don’t know for sure that the next period of 24 hours will be starting immediately. Perhaps it will be some time later, where we find out at the start whether Palmer died, or recovered, or is in the hospital battling for his life…

Me too. When they were offering the resignations and Palmer was making his spiel, I thought that it was pretty predicatable that he would do the generous and gracious move and let them stay on. So, I was half expecting them to throw in a twist and have him say, “I accept your resignations!” instead. (And I wanted at least Prescott to go!)

Although, I must say – the fact that he let them stay on made the scene where he cans Mike (who is supposed to be much closer and loyal to him than anybody) that much more poignant.

I thought the same thing at first, too – thought it was a DNA sample, and was wondering “What the hell do they need that for?”

I don’t think Marie is that high up in the plot. I think she only was part of Sayed Ali’s group, and even he didn’t know about the higher up plot – Kingsley and the attempt to start a war with his country, the 7th soldier, etc. He was manipulated, too – the whole Cypress Recordings deal. I think Marie was only in cahoots with him, so wouldn’t know about Plan B.

So, do we get to see somebody put a bullet in Carrie’s head next season? Pleeeeeeeze?! Or will she spend the next day tattling on more people?

And what happened to Lynn? Is she going to live or die, dammit?! And will Mike be held accountable for that in any way, along with the guy who was guarding the room (and knocked her down the stairwell)?

I’m sure we’ll be seeing Nina again…

I totally agree!! I kept shouting at my tv “Come on, Sherri Palmer, shoot that Kingsley.” But having him shot by a sniper in a silent helicopter is a pretty good substitute.

Looks like Sherri is getting hauled into custody, too! Does anybody anticipate a Presidential pardon. . . if the President survives his really scuzzy Palmer palm!

First, a question. How did the guy who called Rich Boat Guy know that Kingsley was dead? Did one of the Bad Guys escape from the shootout and tell him or what? My TV reception was kind of crummy and it was hard to tell just what was going on.

Second, as I was rewatching some of the previous episodes recently, I noticed that even though Nina was prevented from shooting Jack, Palmer said she’d still be pardoned in advance, as promised. Is she going to have another go at that murder next season, since if she can manage to actually kill him she’s apparently still off the hook?

After they recaptured Nina, the prez was saying that they would still stick to the original deal – which was the pardon for the previous murders and crimes, like the shooting of Jack’s wife. That was the deal they made for her to help in the first place. I’m pretty sure he wasn’t referring to the “pardon in advance” for killing Jack. Just the original pardon deal…

He probably has a contact high up on the inside. He also knew immediately about Prescott calling off the attack.

I missed it!!! But I was watching the Nets gumming up the Pistons, so…

What happened??? Did Sherry come out smelling like a rose, or just smelling?

From the looks of things, I think it’s going to start right away. From that guy on the boat: “… it’s going to start today,” which is basically a giveaway line.

and I don’t think that stuff is some kind of germ or something. I’m thinking more along the lines of poison.

All things aside, that neck-snapping move that Jack pulled off was pretty high on the cool factor.
