2nd (?) Annual-ish SDMB Coffee Mug Exchange

Nope

No, not at all. For one, a thank-you is nice and half the fun of these things, but more importantly, it’s positive confirmation that your package arrived intact (and even a tracking number can’t confirm the latter).

Who did have me? I had given up until I read this thread.

Who didn’t post in this thread about mailing their package or wasn’t thanked by anyone?

I went back through the thread and noted when people sent and/or received their mug:

So ddsun has not reported sending or receiving a mug.
Brynda and zoid have sent theirs.
AtomicMama and MmeRose have not received theirs.

Thanks, shoeless! You send great coffee AND must be good at those puzzles that start “Joe and Bob are left-handed. The person from London …”

Another data point: I sent mine to ddsun and she replied to my PM that she received it.

Seriously, if anyone didn’t get a mug I will send another package. I love these exchanges and want people to keep playing!

I am here for my well deserved public shaming. I am the late one. Me. :frowning:

First, Brynda sent the bestest mug and coffee ever! The mug is a beautiful handmade stoneware that matches a few other pieces that I dearly treasure. It’s got the cutest little icon on the front of a pair of coffee beans that looks like a heart. I can tell already that I will have this mug in my morning rotation starting immediately.

Brynda also sent some amazing coffee. A blend that’s called “Hello Sunshine” and that she picked out because of my name.

Thank you, thank, thank you!!!

MmeRose I abjectly apologize for the delay in sending your package. It will be there Tuesday. :o

Finally, I apologize to the group. This is a lot of fun. I hope I didn’t ruin it.

I’m glad you liked the mug and coffee! The local roaster is called Just Love, hence the heart made of coffee beans logo.

You’re forgiven (at least by me), but you’d better send something a-maze-ing to MmeRose.

Thank you, ddsun. Really it’s okay, I’ve been busy at work and hadn’t even thought about it lately.

Fibber  . You’re just being polite…

I got a FABULOUS BOX from **zoid **approximately a week ago … but I’ve been traveling & too dam !@#$#@! busy to publicly reply to this thread. So – here goes :smack:

CONTENTS of BOX:

*One very cool UIC coffee mug! Although Northwestern U. is my alma mater, I remember when UIC [The University of Illinois Chicago] was being constructed! This was well before the neighborhood got gentrified; Taylor Street was a hidden gem (as were its Italian Beef stands & Italian ICE  and Maxwell Street was still alive & well. Blues harpist Billy Branch went to UIC, BTW.

  • A package of unground, whole coffee BEANS – a brand unfamiliar to me (Papa Nicholas Hawaiian Blend) and most welcome because we have to drive 50 miles each way down to Lincolnville Beach to get the best coffee (Green Tree) in Maine!

  • A slick electric coffee/spice mill! I am going to reserve this newbie for my curry masalas

  • And, truly the piece de resistance: Fannie May candies! Here is why they are so special to me: My father and his younger brother (both now deceased) grew up during the Great Depression. Their father (my grandfather, whom I never met) left both children at an orphange (after their mother died, possibly from a botched abortion) and disappeared out of their lives. The two boys were fobbed off eventually on distant relatives – My great-Aunt Louise and great-Uncle Charlie, who lived in Evanston, IL. Uncle Charlie had been a chauffeur but lost his job, which was the last one he ever held. Louise and Charlie never officially adopted my father and uncle, and made them sleep in the attic so their bedrooms could be rented out for income. But here’s the significance of Fannie May: Aunt Louise bought the house WITH CASH (during the Great Depression) because she was able to keep her job – selling Fannie May candies.

Louise and Charlie have been gone for 50 or so years, now. Thanks for the memories, zoid  … and … my Evanston dad married my Hinsdale mother

Whew! I’m glad to hear you got it and thrilled you’re happy!
Great story about the chocolates!

I forgot about it again today (lot of stress at work again) and got home to find a package in the mailbox! Thank you, ddsun, for the lovely (big! That will hold a lot of coffee) mug and a bag of good-smelling coffee. The debut for both will be tomorrow morning.

So you see, with workplace stress and poor memory, I had a nice surprise!

Phew! Glad it made it intact!
