In a recent pit thread, a relative newbie (to posting anyway), has shown himself to be a poster that I think will make a great addition to this board.
Maybe it’s just that he took the time to lurk and figure things out before posting, and so knows what this place is about. Or maybe it was the elegant put-down of buddhadog’s incoherent blather. Either way, welcome to the boards, Slip Mahoney!
We’ve been getting a lot of newbies lately, and it’s usually the jerks who get noticed. I just wanted to show some appreciation for the type of newbie we want.
Oh, and a cheer or two for Legomancer too. I recognise the name from the SomethingAwful boards, and he seems clueful too.
I hesitated opening this thread. I thought It might be along the lines of, “Great. Yet another moose fondling, igloo building, hockey loving Canuck. They think they’re so hot, with their good beer and free medical care. Go shovel the sidewalk, Slip. You don’t have the necessary coolth to hang with us.”
Then I thought, nah, they don’t bash you in this forum.

I’ve learned that if you read ten times more than you post, you’re much less likely to make a fool of yourself.

Considering the mad crush I had on his namesake (or did I get that backwards??), I’ve got to say Slip is definitely on my list of people whose stuff I’ll seek out and read.

In these rules, the phrase “Don’t be a jerk” may have caught your eye. Also, the words “Don’t piss off the moderators” ought to sound familiar.

You’re damn skippy! 4000+ posts, who throws me a party? No one! All the welcoming I did for all those newbies and what did it get me? Nada. This guy comes along and in less than 100 posts gets an appreciation thread simply for not being a complete nut job as so many newbies have been. I’ve made threadspotting for crying out loud! And that’s all I’m going to say about that. I’ve figured out that it’s not wise to get on the wrong side of Coldfire. Had you lurked for a while like I did, you would have known that, too.
