$30 for a pizza..are you frackin serious?

Haven’t order pizza for delivery in some time. However, was in the mood. Log into a a local pizza places website and one…1…as in single…as in not 2 but 1 pizza to be delivered…$30.

Not including tip.

Really? Seriously? You are not Tin fucking Shed who makes great pizza and I might consider $30 for one of those…maybe. You are some local hole-n-the-wall pizza joint who makes ok pizza.

$30!?!

Fuck you…

That does seem a bit steep. We keep getting flyers for a Buffalo Wing Joint. If you order a low number of wings they are a buck each. Order 50 (and two piddly sides) and its “only” 40 dollars. And thats for picking it up yourself! Those damn wings better look more like drumsticks IMO (but they don’t) for those kind of prices. And, shit, for that matter I live in an area known for its low cost of living (besides buffalo wings apparently).

What makes it better is I also just checked out the local pizza hut. They have a $10 pizza deal…but when I went to check out they told me the local place does not honor it and the price was…

$24.

Not including tip.

uh huh. Right. Will jump right on that.

Pappa Johns looks promising though…in their site now.

Tempted to drive to Tin Shed and pick one up. They make damn good pizza. Think I will wait for wifey to get home and maybe just go there.

If your area has a Hungry Howies and you’v never tried them I would. Get Cajun spiced Crust, three cheeses, bananna peppers, and perhaps two other toppings like mushrooms/peperoni/onions.

Around here, Dominos has great pizza for a great price with a great web tracker.

There’s an irritating chain that charges that kind of price, though. Irritating because they’ve managed to drive out almost every other pizza chain. Our Dominos is safe because it hides in a gas station.

How many toppings?

I get junk mail/flyers with pizza coupons from practically every pizza joint in the neighborhood. They don’t sell too many at full price, but they’re quite happy to give you one for the for $30 if you don’t have a coupon.

You could always do what I did last week for probably the first time in nearly 40 years. Make your own crappy pizza with one of those Chef Boyardee home pizza kit. It will at least be CHEAP. A blast from the past for sure.

Does Papa Johns still due the 2nd pizza free on pick up? That used to be a pretty good deal if you didn’t mind driving.

I dunno…I sometimes order a large from a very good local pizzeria and the bill (including tip) is about $23.00. Depending how hungry I am, that’s two or three meals - not only made to order but delivered to my door.

And I live in a really low-cost-of-living part of the country, but I consider that a pretty good deal. Tasty food, cooked sort of to order, delivered to my door within about half an hour by someone driving his or her own car and paying for the gas…I guess I don’t see that $30 is out of line, or pit-worthy.

$23 including tip and $30 NOT including tip are pretty far apart. Almost twice the price, depending on the tip.

$30+tip for ONE pizza? Get bent!

Well it also depends on where one lives - I’d rather spend a little more for good pizza made with locally-sourced ingredients and with the profit going to a locally-owned business. And, I don’t consider $10-15 per meal, delivered to my door and onerous or unreasonable cost.

I’ve got a crazy idea–if you think something is too expensive, don’t buy it. I don’t see what’s so pitworthy about finding something you believe is too expensive (happens just about every time I go clothes shopping or go to Home Depot).

Would that we were all ultra-rational emotionless robots like you.

Domino’s also has some kick-ass hot sandwiches, which hubby and I are eating RIGHT NOW! Fifteen bucks and change, delivered. Yum!

Our local place (well, it’s a tiny chain, just here in town I think) has a deal for a medium 1 top, breadsticks, and 2 drinks. I think it’s about $16, because I always give the guy a 20. But if you start ordering fancy-schmancy pizzas with broccoli and feta and garlic, the price goes up really quickly.
Mmmm. Now I want pizza…any kind would do.

Look who just parked their big dumb ass right in the excluded middle . . .

I don’t know where the OP lives, but I’ve frequently beaten the hell out of a $30 bill buying pizza both here and in Denver some years ago simply because I rarely like the combinations that are on special and order the five or six toppings that I like on a large pizza that will feed me for three (or maybe four) meals.

Now I’m hungry. Thanks a lot.

What size pizza are we talking about? If it’s an extra large that serves a family of four, that’s not so much.

I have a friend that worked as the manager of a large regional pizza chain and he basically said pizza was the single most profitable food sold at any of the restaurants he has ever worked at. Average cost to make a pizza(large I think)–and they’re known for their heavy use of cheese and toppings–was $1.34.
