30 Rock (5/20)

I thought the same thing. Why is 30 Rock stealing bits from its God parent?

Not just Sully, but last week’s “birth control where you only have one period a year” joke was done on SNL as well, though they had different names for the product.

My friend made a similiar comment last night when we watched. I was thinking that since he’s a pilot, there’s a built-in reason for him to be away most of the time and just show up when Matt Damon is available. I didn’t think Julianne Moore’s recurring part would last as long as it did, either.

I’d also like to see what they’d do with the show since Jack, Liz, and even Jenna have all found relatively good relationships. It’d be interesting to have them paired off. The show wouldn’t have Liz’s perpetual singleness as a go-to joke anymore, but since she hasn’t had a lot of long-term relationships it seems like there would still be plenty of opportunities for the funny.

as much as creepy loneliness is a gold mine for jokes, a relationship is 2x as much. couple that in with liz probably retaining much of her single idiosyncrasies and the funny’s are all but guarantied.

What kills me is my wife talks that way, and she’s a native New Jerseyan – but from the NORTHERN half of the state!

Easy explanation: over the last few years, SNL has been turning out complete shit (oops, sorry about that…I shouldn’t swear…so please replace the “s” with a “W”, the “t” with a “g”, and the “h” with an “i” and you’ll have a synonym), so they probably figured few enough people bothered watching SNL so these jokes would have been new to them.

Strange, I’m a pretty faithful watcher of SNL and I don’t remember this skit (although I did see Andy Samberg play the goose who wrote a poem about all the geese lost that day, and loved it). Do you remember who the host was?

It was actually on one of the Weekend Update prime specials that aired last Fall. Here isa recap of the episode from Thursday 10/1/2009.

I was a little sad that Carol met Nancy, and didn’t make a comment about her thick accent.

Best moment of the night was Kenneth popping up next to the limo. We laughed like idiots, then rewound and watched it again.

Only flaw in your (Matt Damon’s?) plan is, how did he know that Liz Lemon was going to be at Wesley Snipes’ office on a Saturday afternoon? Her being there was a complete coincidence, to get Snipes’… what did he call them? Fancy slippers?

Tina Fey was in that skit (and probably wrote it, for that matter); I think she’s allowed to steal from herself.

Not just fancy slippers, but fancy dress slippers my luscious plum.

My favorite moment had to be Kenneth’s drunken reverse tell-off at Grizz and Feyonce’s wedding. Something about Kenneth’s character really sold it for me. By the time he did the thumbs up, I was falling over with laughter. “I hope to see you all in heaven!”

Oh man, I didn’t realize that was how they were spelling that name. I thought it was just Fiancee, which was kind of lame, but Feyonce. Ha!

He was seen in the background while Liz was shuffling through the Bible. We met him last week. No lines this week.

Loved Nancy calling Avery’s accent ridiculous. Jack having worn his sister’s hand-me-down cords with hearts for pockets explains a lot. Another vote for the looks when Kenneth handed in his gun. I’ll see you all in Heaven.

These last two episodes were the best of the season.

Is anyone else upset that Avery’s knocked up? I thought that was a REALLY cheap story line, and while I loved the rest of the episode, I really don’t like the concept of Jack Donaghy being a father and “settling down” with Avery.

Sucks for Donaghy I agree. Kind of takes away arguably the best character in the show - that’s really going to change things.

Yeah, I wasn’t a fan of it either. Especially since Elizabeth Banks had a similar storyline in Scrubs which started the downfall of Scrubs. They seemed to be making fun of Scrubs during that scene where Jack and Avery’s conversation is being drowned out by Moonvest’s music though, so maybe the writers will do something more interesting.

Jack Donaghy’s character shines when it comes to his family life. “Apollo, Apollo” focused nearly entirely on Jack’s father and Jack as a child, and it was one of the best episodes last season. This development will only enhance his character.

banks has been preggers for so many story arcs, i get her confused with heigl who was actually in knocked up.

Probably she will turn out not to be pregnant. I just don’t see how this can work into the story.
