Liz was sitting at her desk talking to Hazel and my wife said “Tina Fey’s breasts are huge right now because she is breastfeeding.” Then immediately Hazel comments on Liz’s nice rack. That made us laugh.
Does anyone else worry that in the series finale Kenny is going to kill everyone and blow up 30 Rock on live TV?
Two very good episodes. I especially liked the way Kenneth (as Jack noted as the end) is now lower on the totem pole than ever, although I don’t think he’ll stay there very long. Kristen Schaal gets more unsettling every week.
Well, Jack did predict 5 years ago “In five years, we’ll all either be working for Kenneth or dead by his hand.” And since Kenneth’s plan to become President of Television has hit a snag…
I wasn’t watching the show five years ago, but I do wish they’d moved Kenneth up the corporate ladder sooner. He didn’t have to stay an intern through five-plus seasons, and since they have periodically emphasized the similarities of Kenneth and Jack, I would’ve liked to see Jack’s prediction come closer to the truth.
I don’t think there was a 30 Rock thread last week, but there was another Tracy joke I found really funny:
Tracy and Jenna are at odds with each other and are having an argument over something. Tracy shouts a command into his iPhone, “Siri, kill Jenna!” The scene with Tracy and Jenna continues a little longer and as their argument continues you can hear Tracy’s phone–in the voice of Siri–say “I killed Jenna Elfman. Is that right?”
I got one of those shudder/laugh deals out of the joke about Liz writing MythBusters slash. It occurred to me a while ago that that must exist somewhere on the 'net (no links, please).
For some reason I got a really big kick out of the throwaway bit about the Featured Extra (“Has a name but no lines”) and then they repeatedly called Jack’s silent assistant by his name (Gary? I forget). That plus the storyline of having to write a contest winner into the show makes me think that the guy playing Jack’s assistant was actually a contest winner of that sort.
Gabriel hasn’t done much, but he’s apepared a few times this year. The guy who played Jack’s previous assistant, Jonathan, got a bigger part on Whitney this season.
That was possibly one of the funniest lines from the show’s history. I’d put it right up there with The Generalissimo wooing the Puerto Rican grandmother. “But first, let us go to McDonalds and order only coffee.”
We’ve come back to watching “30 Rock” since it’s usually on in re-runs after “How I Met Your Mother” re-runs (my tv viewing habits are a whole ‘nother thread), and I don’t think I could ever pick a favourite line from any episode since they are all stuffed full of good lines. The way it mixes lampooning what (I assume) is the ridiculous real world of tv with over-the-top scenarios is friggin’ brilliant.
