30 Rock - Last Thursday 4/10 - anyone??

I did a search and couldn’t find it - no one started a thread?

I thought it was great - MILF Island was hilarious and the overlap with the main plot, revealing that while the Girlie Show types thought they were above it all they were just as superficial was very well done.

Anyone?

I would definitely watch MILF Island and it was good to see Liz getting all cold and vicious, but the vending machine subplot was a complete waste of time.

Yeah - and that tends to describe that character in any plotline…

Is Jane Krakowski off the show? I kept thinking she was going to show up as a contestant on Milf Island.

I’m not sure why 30 Rock doesn’t get more love around here. I think it is the funniest show on television right now. The MILF island thing was just spot on.

One of the best lines was when Liz was saying, 'I didn’t come here to make friends, I came here to be number one," while the MILF Island contstant said exactly the same thing in sync with her on the television.

I also liked Alec Baldwin’s whole made-up “stammering” story. One of the best things about this show is how much smarter Baldwin’s character really is than what people (even Liz) assume that he is.

Ironic that the Studio 60 show was expected to be the hit while 30 Rock was expected to disappear quickly. It always semed to me that the person who used to actually be the head writer for SNL would probably be in a better position to write about it, not to mention be able to be funny. Tina Fey is one of the best comey writers working right now.

That new movie she’s got with Amy Pohler playing the surrogate mom looks pretty funny too.

Who knew that Alec Baldwin could do comedy? I swear this guy just cracks me up. Let’s just forget about the unfortunate disaster with his daughter. The man has serious comedic chops.

That scene a few episode ago where he was role playing Tracy Morgan’s family by doing nothing but “Good Times” characters was a tour de force. I don’t think Robin Williams could have pulled that off any better.

Hasn’t he hosted SNL approximately eight billion times?

No, you’re thinking of Christopher Walken, who celebrated his 100th episode hosting last week.

Including reruns.

I love 30 Rock! I want to take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant!

Seriously, if this show gets canceled because not enough people watch it, I’m going to be really sad. It’s the best thing in television right now. I can’t think of another show I’ve enjoyed this much that wasn’t a miniseries. (And the miniseries I’ve enjoyed this much have been for entirely different reasons.) It’s smart, it’s funny, it’s occasionally stupid in a good way, it’s got Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey, and it’s just wonderful all around.

I really liked this episode, mostly because it meant 30 Rock was back in my life. And if 30 Rock was back in my life, what wasn’t there to like? That said, I didn’t like this as much as some others – it felt slightly off, like the writers needed to hit their stride again after the strike. Basically, it was my least favorite episode so far, but still better than the most recent episode of The Office.

I liked Pete’s being trapped in the vending machine, though. But I like Pete in general.

The most bizarre thing about this show is that it turns my family into some sort of twisted version of a 1950s clan getting together to watch Zorro or American Bandstand. Except we’re laughing at things like, “It’s not a Lemon party without ol’ Dick!” And that’s just sort of weird.

I had no idea it had come back on. Must go over and view.

We watched it last night, and it was hilarious. I love the show.

Alec Baldwin is a fantastic comedic actor. He’s one of the best hosts SNL has had, and has created a number of memorable characters on that show. His timing is the best I’ve ever seen.

oops

It was terrific, although I was a little surprised at the sheer fury of Bitch!Liz, and I could have used more Tracy.

But MILF Island is a classic. The dorky 8th-grade boys, the stupidly spelled names of the contestants (Christeena), and the ceremonial dismissal “Heidi, we no longer want to hit that. Get off MILF Island” followed by the traditional doffing of the bikini top.

The last two MILF Island contestants were Deb-OR-ah and DEB-orah.

I love me some “30 Rock” not sure why it’s not the message board discussion show that others are. Easily one of the best comedies on tv right now.

“One time, one of my boob implants exploded…and I didn’t even ask to be taken of the catapult.”

Lines like that reveal so much about what happened on MILF island.

In case you’re a class A moron who missed it (like me), you can watch it on hulu.com:

I’m rewatching it again now, to catch all the jokes I missed the first time. “I’m not a dirtbag, this is from American Eagle!”
