This is such a bad movie, it makes me ill thinking about it. I ignored the critics because the idea to base a movie around a young male not having sex appeals to me… BUT I DON’T KNOW WHY!? Just Kidding, but I do find it an interesting idea for a movie. Too bad this movie SUCKED.
It was totally misrepresenting to both sexes. The “villain” who’s the young man’s ex, gets away with something ridiculous at the end. The current love interest gets unjustly upset on 2 occasions… and all the young man says is, “I’m sorry” when he should have asked her what her problem is, (She got mad that she wasn’t told about this 40 days and nights thing after JUST ONE DATE… so he didn’t kiss he goodnight, who cares), and ask her why she didn’t trust him… (it’s at the end, a spoiler).
Spoiler…

Why would he say sorry when he was sleeping?? It wasn’t his fault!? He only told her about what REALLY happened once, when they made up after saying sorry so many times, it was as if he gave up and she was never convinced.

End of spoiler…
The kid was testing the bed to find any man-stuff, if you’re a man and hold it in, there’s always the strong possibility of nocturnal emission. People bet on the kid as if they really could ever know when he or if he broke off the vow.
The movie had some gender stereotypes:
-Women do this for power…
-No man can walk out of a room with two women kissing and not tremble. (I Frankly never found that attractive).
-This bet I doubt would be HORRIBLY difficult for many men, or at least just a little more difficult than for a woman to pull this off. (with nocturnal emissions)
I don’t know about all of this, I would like to hear from more men on the subject. I may be wrong, and just speaking as an individual, not for all man kind. Let’s just say I would hate for a woman to see this movie and figure they had an idea. So many women I know generalize men in the worst way.
On thing that REALLY got to me is the music. You all must have heard that song… “Everything will be wonderful someday.” I don’t know the name of a song, but it’s about a little kid and his parents fighting and having marital problems. The lyrics didn’t fit the movie, yet they played it for an extended period of time… where there was no dialog, the song was the focus. BUT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STORY. I HATE this! I think, that the only time you can play a song in a movie, (a song that takes over dialog), that has nothing to do with the plot, is if it represents a certain period in time… for example, Forrest Gump.
This movies time lapses were sloppy/uneven. And a lot more not to like… the poop above is just my peeve. I hope I expressed them right… it’s hard for me to describe things that I know I don’t like but can’t explain why
Any comments?
