I was checking out Arnold Winkelried’s posts to this forum, and apparently he has been posting 400 posts per month. I find it difficult to understand how this could be possible. Could someone elaborate?
It is quite simple actually. He is one of the modertators and being so makes many mosts. When he has to move a thread to the correct section he posts in the thread, and when someone posts to Comments on Cecil’s Columns or Comments on Staff Reports and fails to provide a link to the original question he posts the correct etiquite on how to ask as well as provides the link so during his daily time here it would be quite easy for him or any moderator to atain a large amount of posts.
Insider, there are others with higher posts-per-month ratios than Arnold. Some are mods, others regular dopers with lots to say.
Or, let’s assume that a hypothetical poster named, er, uh insider posted 13 new threads in one day. That would translate to 390 posts in a normal month. And,if you assume that insider posted once more to each thread, that would push the count to 780.
Now, add in the posts to other people’s threads, and you come up with :rolleyes:
As I post, you have 14 threads on the first page of GQ, insider. Assuming they are all from today, that works out to a rate of about 430 new threads per month in one forum alone. The difference between you and Arnold is that he mostly answers questions.
I have had 1,300 posts at FrappyDoo! since 9/12/2000. That’s a little over 400 a month, but I’m the owner. I’m also a moderator at SitePoint and MovieForums, so I post there also.
There are three people at SitePoint who had over 600 posts in October, and two of them are just normal members.
I just broke 400 yesterday, and most of it was in the last month or so… tho I haven’t really been keeping track!
Since finals were over last week, and I’m now at home with the kids until next fall, I could easily make more than 400 posts in a month.
I leave a browser window open at the SDMB all day, and pop in whenever I take a break from whatever I’m doing. Plus, I type fast.
With 13 posts per day, one could probably do that in well under an hour a day, depending on how wordy or thoughtful their posts were.
400 posts per month (13/day) is not too difficult. All you need is spare time, the ability to read/type fast, and a fast internet connection. I do more than 13/day, but I don’t check in every day.
