“A Tribute to Widescreen!” The best Oscar montage since 1997’s “Tribute to Color!” They’re just reaching for montage themes, aren’t they? As Jon said, I can’t wait for the tribute to montages.
And maybe, just maybe, if it didn’t cost you half a kilobuck to go to the theater, etc. more people would go to the movies.
He did pretty much the same thing when he hosted the 2001 Grammy Awards Show, only then it was “I suck!”
Itzhak Perlman was finger-syching? Poor Jon.
I notice they spelled Jake Gyllenhaal’s name right on the marquee. His scripted joke was corny and it looked like he knew it. Why were he and Heath Ledger both sporting scruffy half grown in beards?
Was this the “blowing shit up and vehicles flying through the air” montage? Oscar’s Salute to Montages, yes indeed.
That is not Alba’s look! She looks like a chulomami.
I’ve never seen her look bad before. WTF?
What’s a chulomami?
What next? A montage to celebrate the Dolby Noise Reduction™ process?
Oh Meryl. Why did you agree to do that?
cringe
Oh that Meryl Streep. She’s such a phoney-baloney!
Nah, a montage to celebrate everything from the silent film live organist to the Dolby Digital sound check.
Lily Tomlin and Meryl Streep’s overlapping dialog to introduce Robert Altman’s award is the best introduction ever! Nice writing.
Streep & Tomlin–ladies, ladies, the only way you can do something like this is to play it straight.
De gustibus non est disputandum.
Lily Tomlin and Meryl Streep should host next year’s Oscars; nice. They both looked great and it was a fun tribute to…
Robert Altman getting the Lifetime Achievement Award. It’s about time.
Oh yeah, Seinfeld jokes. That’s what’s missing.
I don’t know, she just looks wrong. That was my impression… her dress is too tight in the bodice, her hair is all wrong, the jewelry was gaudy. She looks best with her natural beauty underaccented and she just looks overwrought.
A tribute to studio logos, introduced by Annette Benning and the MGM lion!
lol Asterion
Maybe those would have been better than that Streep / Tomlin sketch.
I really like both of them - but that routine - just sad.
Oh.
Thanks.
