Wow the younger guy who won best short animated looks like a twilight character
I love that William Joyce gets a win.
Shreveport, LA, emerging animation capital. Go figure.
I’m waiting for our governor to call a press conference and congratulate himself for their win… tax breaks for the film industry or something.
I bet Scorsese or Woody wins director, but Payne made The Descendants so real and so human, I think he did the best job.
Oh, but it’s Hazavinicus! (I know I spelled that wrong, sue me, Kim Novak.)
He’s come only once, in 2002, just month after the 9/11 attacks, to encourage people to continue making movies in New York. Otherwise, he passes.
Man, I thought Hugo was a sure thing for best picture, until The Artist just beat it for best director (both of which were well-worthy). Well, 5 is still a pretty good haul!
Per NPR, I believe the state put up the bulk of the film’s production cost.
Not a bad pick for best director.
I’m only looking in once in a while.
But how comes everyone I see has broken english/an accent. Am I only seeing the foreign film categories?
I thought Billy made a math error regarding Streep’s wins and nominations (17-2=14), but then, they haven’t presented B. Actress yet, have they?
Well, we’re moving right along. Just the annual ‘bring out your dead’ montage, then Actor, Actress and Picture.
Here comes the walking dead. Time for my bathroom break!
How nice to see both Douglas Trumbull and Dick Smith, two fairly obscure film people who I’ve long admired, receive this recognition from the Academy tonight.
god i love meryl streep. i’m rooting for her to win.
almost time for the dead celebrities montage!
My guess: Whitney will receive the loudest applause.
Meryl was absolutely outstanding in The Iron Lady. But Viola Davis was wrenching in The Help. Either one would be a worthy Oscar winner, I say.
And the winner for biggest hair of the year goes to… whoever that is with the big hair.
Nobody is applauding! :whew!:
I’m having trouble reading some of these names…
So we are having a live singer during the montage again this year? I thought that was a huge fail last year…
Although it does seem to eliminate the usual applause-o-meter, since they don’t want to make noise while someone is singing. Maybe that’s why they do it.
Wow, that’s a comically big afro.
No clapping for individuals during the dead person tribute. Good!
