$850.00

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I’ve seen that movie way too many times, I guess.

I hope you get the money back, JerseyDiamond. And it sounds like you will, especially since you left it on the manager’s desk.

Good luck Jersey. I know that telling you to try not to worry about it is worthless. Once I get something like that stuck in my head, it’s hard to be rid of it…but I’m praying that that money will be found and all will be well.

Please let us know what happens!

What Ice Wolf said.

Chances are very high your money is still on the desk as I’m sure everyone wanted to blow out the door that day as fast as possible and it’s unlikely that it got picked up from someone’s desk. If it was left on the teller’s counter that would be another story.

Having said this, however, I think it’s pretty important that you are there at 8.00 AM (or whenever) the bank personnel start their day so that it doesn’t get lost in the morning shuffle.

JerseyDiamond, I just wanted to add my well-wishes to the list. I’ll keep you in my Positive Thoughts/Good Vibes/Prayers.

As astro said, be there at 8:00am Thursday - I think you have a really good chance of getting it back considering the time & loction.

Best Wishes to you for the New Year. Let us know how things turn out.

Thank you so much everyone!

My mom seems to think I will get it back because it was left on the manager desk! Plus there are tons of cameras…

I will be at the bank 1st thing in the morning, waiting for them to open…

ooppss…That was me

As has been mentioned, leaving it in a bank gives you the very best chance of getting it back. But don’t underestimate the kindness of your average punter either. The Thursday before Xmas I ‘lost’ my wallet on a train and it was returned WITH THE MONEY INTACT to lost property the next morning!!

And about 16 years ago, I lost my handbag (with $700 cash plus cards plus miscellaneous other stuff), presumed it had been stolen and when I went to report it to the police a few days later…not in the hopes of getting the money back but praying that someone might have dumped the bag with my new expensive hairbrush at least… there was the bag, the money AND even a rapidly rotting banana. And the hairbrush!! :stuck_out_tongue:

People can surprise you sometimes. Good luck with everything.

Sooooo… did you get it back?

THANK YOU GOD, THANK YOU GOD!!!
I got it back, I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo happy… and relieved…

{does happy, happy dance}
la la la la lallal alalalalalalalalal lal la
sorry, I get silly when I am happy…

Thanks for all your support, everyone…

God is good

now maybe you can send chocolate to all your fellow dopers???

Ahh, sweet relief. I’m happy for you, JerseyDiamond.

I’m glad you got it back!

Just one thing to consider when you leave things in banks.

They have security cameras EVERYWHERE! They have the photographic proof that you’ve left something there AND they will reccord who took it, and probably be able to identify the NAME of the person who took it. (since other people go into banks to do stuff and have to give people their name all of which is on camera and timestamped)

Good for you, JerseyDiamond! I will do a little Snoopy dance…

Congratulations! Nice way to start off the new year.

Yay! That rawks.

I was rootin’ for ya…even though I didn’t post. So I can still get some of the chocolate - right?

w00t! Now you just have to go back to the bank and demand interest on the money since they had it for a few days.

That is a wonderful story for the new year! Congratulations!

I know that sinking feeling so well - but the relief, if it comes, practically makes it all worth it. Like waking up from a nightmare.

Thank God!! I’d been so concerned for you and what that loss might mean to your plans.

::: does happy dance for Jersey’s good fortune :::
