Aw, Chris Evans, did you have to grow a beard? Neat beards can be nice on certain men, but for a handsome man to grow a beard is like having a beautiful painting and covering it up with a shawl.

(Of course, did you notice the very first image in the hero montage? )

The Pepsi Mini Cans commercial was hilarious.

(I said “I’ll have what she’s having” as it was being said).

I recognized all the quotes excepts “Earmuffs!” What was that from?

Hope this isn’t a misunderstanding of my comment…as far as I know, they’re not going to stop broadcasting it. It’s just that it’s quite different from the days when they only broadcast it once a year, and we kids got our bath early and got into our jammies so we could watch it…just that special, around-Easter, once-a-year.

These days, people can watch it anytime they want, and it’s even broadcast more than once a year. Which is nice, especially for those of us who love it, but there was that specialness about the way they used to do it.

Pretty tight set of speeches so far. I don’t think anyone has been played off yet.

Thing is, I don’t see this thing running any shorter than usual. Those bits with Ellen in the audience seemed to go on forever.

ah, dead people montage

Oh…the “Somewhere In Time” theme!!!

Aw, I didn’t know Les Blank died!

So nice to NOT hear applause during the montage.

That was the best memorial video EVER. Beautiful music, beautiful images, and NO CLAPPING!

Bette Midler looks amazing.

C’mon Oscar…why are you wasting time with this?

The show is long enough with Ellens 10 year bits why are you spending time with this?

…aannd have to mute Bette Midler. Why the schmaltz? Why???

I had no idea either. And I was a bit surprised to see Harold Ramis in there as they usually go by calendar year.

Bette still sounds pretty good. Edited. She’s 68, she looks and sounds amazing!

Exactly what I was thinking.

Every other year it reminded me of “Queen for a Day”

Agreed.

sniffle. i’m such a sap.

Shirley Temple and Philip Seymour Hoffman too. I like that they included the 2014 names. Why wait to honor them?

perhaps they decided to go oscar year.
