I’m ok with this. I wanted Linklater to win, but the direction of Birdman was masterful, too.
I really thought Linklater would get this one. Maybe Birdman best picture, but I thought that the multi-year project would win over something more arty.
That’s two of the three Amigos who have won Oscars. Come on Guillermo, step it up!
Could Affleck have looked any more dour?
He just might do it at some point. Pan’s Labyrinth was probably the best chance so far, though I actually think Hellboy 2 is his best movie so far.
Crimson Peak is unlikely I think to get it for him, though.
Totally agree re: Foxcatcher. It needed editing.
Foxcatcher sucked. I said it.
Cate Blanchett presents Best Actor.
Eddie Redmayne!
Boo.
Michael Keaton was way better in Birdman.
Handicap wins again.
Eddie Redmayne was amazing. He deserves this win, even in a good year like this one.
I’m genuinely surprised.
The Academy loves its disabled characters don’t they?
Didn’t see Redmayne’s performance, but I have heard it’s excellent. I have to think that the playing a disability part does give you a headstart when it comes to the Oscars, however.
No Oscar for Billy Blazejowski.
MattM presents Best Actress. Julianne Moore won it months ago.
Yup. My first win an about an hour.
Me too. When I saw the movie I said he’d win, and I picked him in my Oscar ballot out of sheer hope, but I honestly thought there was no way he’d beat Keaton. This is Keaton’s chance after a long career, and he was truly good, so I thought he had it.
I love how geeked Eddie was.
Julianne is adorable!
Yep, when in doubt vote for the disabled.
Bitches Be Trippin’, Yo got robbed! Robbed, I tells ya!
Great for Julianne. Love her. She’s come quite a ways from Amber Waves.
