A baby, our baby! Beta is born!

How’s Anya and Mrs. Player? More pictures up?

Congrats!

I missed this until just now – congratulations! You have a lovely family.

Another mostly-lurker who is so thrilled to see Anya is finally here!

A beautiful baby - a beautiful mother and a proud poppa - all is well with the world.

Conratulations my friend! I’m sure you’ll make an excellent father. It helps to know what not to do. Peace be with you.

Ogdamn, I missed this one.

Congratulations Tokyo and Tokyowife. Welcome Anya, may your life be filled with joy, may it be long and fruitful, and may you have your loved ones for many, many years.

What wonderful words! I was away for two weeks celebrating my own October 7 birth (woot) but hoped I would see this thread when I returned to work. Such wonderful news, and she’s gorgeous and SMART.

Ian Pough is giggling about this :).

I just found this thread too.

Congratulations, and may you have many, MANY happy, healthy years together!

Congrats, too, from one father of an Anya to another!

Where did you get the name? We got it from Roman Holiday.

Damn! You got the middle name we wanted, or close to it! We had wanted Sophie, but my last name starts with an “s” and I couldn’t make an ass of my daughter.

We are doing fine! Better than fine! Wonderful. Such a sweet little things and finally starting to become [URL=“http://www.flickr.com/photos/90901585@N00/2966102091/in/photostream/”]more awareof her environment.

Like all good parents, some people are tired.

For those who have asked for pics, I can only say the star is tired of being the center of attention. “No more photos, please!”

Today’s my birthday, and my wife said she was sorry that she didn’t get me anything this year. That of course, is silly because she gave me the best thingI’ve ever wanted.

Here’s all of what I uploaded.

I’ll fill you all in with the details later. Someone is crying.

She is absolutely LOVELY!! I can’t get over how tiny she is in your hands!

What a sweetie! I love “neener!”

Beautiful family!

Anya Beta Baby is gorgeous!

I really enjoyed going through your photos.

Sincere congratulations to you all!

Oh, she’s so sweet! I love the little dismissive gestures babies (newborns) make. “No, thank you. Please go away.”
I’m so happy for you!

What amazingly cute eyes.

:: starts plotting ways to visit ::
:: it would only be a slight detour from Iceland, wouldn’t it? ::

Elegant prose composed of delicate thoughts of a parent’s love of tiny infants are written only by those who have them not, for those who do are too damn sleepy to meter right.

It’s the best of times. It’s the tired’est of times. Deadlines may come and deadlines may go, payments may be skipped, but a baby will not wait. Not at six and not at two. Especially not at two, when the darkness of the night beckons for slumber; when eyes cry to be shut, a baby’s needs are not quiet.

Fortunately, my MIL has been able to stay with us, and has been great at cooking meals and helping clean up. Our real battle begins in another 10 days when she goes back.

A few years back, a good friend was pushed over the limit, so he quit his job, packed up his dozen years of life into a few suitcases and returned to his America to retry his luck. That’s always been an unspoken, often un-thought, unconscious option. As I hold Anya, my gut finally understands what my brain has been trying to tell. There is no going back. Once a father, always a father.

We’re lucky. Terribly lucky. What a beautiful child. What a difference in our lives from just a couple of weeks back. Your life had changed forever. Everyone says it, which doesn’t make it trite or less true.

Little Anya is still into sleeping, eating and passing food. She is more aware of the environment and has started to learn that her mother is better equipped for giving food.

While she cries to be feed, she screams for wet diapers. We’re still figuring things out, a task we hope to accomplish in the next 20 some years.

All is well.

Oh, you’ll figure it out sooner than that.

And then it will change.

She’s a beautiful little lady and she looks so content in those pictures. Must be those doting parents of hers. She knows she’s loved.

Oh, and btw, Happy Birthday, Daddy.

Congrats to you and your wife - Anya is a doll!

You don’t know how glad I am you can say that.

Beautiful pictures! It’s amazing to see how much she’s changed in just this short time. Your happiness is giving me some warmth on this cold October night. What a sweet babe.
