Hey y’all. Civilization comes to Mayberry… I have my new DSL line up and running, and I’m posting like a mutherf!ck from home.
Gee, and we even got indoor plumbing just last week.
Carry on.
And have you got your first five miles of paved road, and a nice buggy?
Good morning. Anyone bringing breakfast today?
Bobbio - when are you installing the see-ment pond??
Is being hungover a good excuse for calling in to work? No? Well, I guess I’ll go. But I’m not going to be happy about it.
Just finished a breakfast of a 'nanner and a bowl of Special K. I’m going to go out in a few to take a nice ride before it gets stupid hot to do that. Yes, I like the heat, but I’m not dumb enough to be alone on my bike 10 miles from home when it’s 98 degrees out.
Good morning everybody!
I’ve got my coffee, the dog has been let out to do his bid’ness and has been fed and watered, and I don’t have any breakfast.
I’ve got some 'nanas, maybe I’ll have one for breakfast.
Plans today call for nothing exciting, except for hanging out at the house and getting some things done. That will be nice. Hubby plans to take himself and the son down to the barbershop to get their ears lowered. They’re both overdue.
Tel, I’m glad to hear that you might have another job lined up. I’m sure you’ll do fine.
My garden is harboring approximately 4 million mosquitos (mosquitoes?), so I’ve gone and bought repellent. And some pavers for the little path on the one side of the house (eventually I’ll edge all the beds with these pavers, but I’m doing it all gradual-like.
It’s hot out, even though it’s overcast, so I don’t think I’ll last very long. But I guess I’ll give it the ol’ college try.
All I’ve really had for breakfast is coffee. Guess I should eat lunch eventually.
GT
Isn’t coffee breakfast??
It’s USUALLY my breakfast. I still haven’t eaten a banana or anything. I was busy cruising the news sites and the rest of the Dope.
Fortunately, it’s not hot here. In fact, we may get some rain tomorrow. This would be a good thing. We’ve got various forest fires blazing and the rain would certainly help.
I hate skeeters. I have no compunction about killing the little bastards and bitches because I don’t see what earthly reason they have to exist.
When is Swampy coming back so I can sing to him for his birthday. Bobbio, since it turns out I’ll be in town on your b-day, I get to sing to you AGAIN! I know you’re just thrilled, especially since I can’t carry a tune in a bucket, so to speak.
Hey, yeah, where is that old geezer?? He’s probably out stocking up on Depends and denture adhesive and a couple of ear trumpets, since I’m sure he’s too cheap to get hearing aids.
<snerk>
Happy birthday, swampasaurus!!! You old coot…
Well, rats. We have been sitting around waiting for the property appraiser who was supposed to be here between 11 and 12. It’s now after 12. He’s not here. I am not happy. I didn’t bother getting his number or the name of his company.
I expect if I go downstairs and get up to my elbows in clay, he’ll show up…
Grrrrrrrr
I had banannananananas for breakfast. I took the dog out for a walk on the green way, so she won’t stir again or 6 or 7 hours. Today is my last day of vacation, so I’ll work extra hard at doing nothing. I set the Roomba loose. Considering I went a week with 70% less shedding, there is an awful lot a hair still on the carpet. Maube that’s why it picked this up.
chaoticbear, look on the bright side. Your day can only get better.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot…
Happy Burfday swampmeister!!!
geezer
I was just wondering where the ol’ geezer had got himself off to. Wasn’t he supposed to be back yesterday? And be home celebrating near the pool today?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWAMPY!!!
Enjoy the last day of vacation, dogb!
I think you should go ahead and head for the basement, FCM. That’ll make sure the appraiser shows up quickly. Maybe you could just pretend to be up to your elbows in clay?
It’s hot out and I’m a wimp, so I’m indoors and considering options. Need to pick up the dry cleaning. Dunno what else yet, but it’ll probably involve cleaning or organizing. But first I’m gonna read for a bit.

Dear Swampy,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUUU!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR, SWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMPY!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
…AND MAAAAAAAAAAAANY MOOOOOOOOOOORRRRE!
I have just removed chicken boobies from the freezer for dinner tonight.
I still haven’t done a single productive thing. It feels nice.
Shortly, though, I’ll have to get my hiney in gear, and do something productive.
Ahem clears throat …
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR SWAMPBEAAAARRRRRR
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUU
Nicely done, Taters.
Last night the son of the family I’m staying with returned to visit with his wife, and there was a small party for their 3rd anniversary. There was finger food and cake and it was yummy. Afterwards, we played SceneIt. I did well, I think, but the son’s wife won. Then we played Pop Culture Trivial Pursuit DVD NBC POP FCC CIA etc, and my team won. I even got our winning question! Go me!
Today I have to study. Boo. Grump. I like bananers. Mayhaps I will have one.
Well, he’s finally here - I didn’t have to resort to getting goopy. But I’m hungry, so once he goes,** FCD** is taking me out for lunch.
And to think, I’m paying this guy… grrrrrrr
I like 'nanners too, but they still must have green on the skin. Ripe bananas, or even one single teeny-tiny brown fleck on the skin puts me right off.
Yeah, I know, I’m weird. So what, I like them that way. I prefer raw vegetables in most cases, and love under ripe apples. Not so under-ripe they’re sour, but still slightly tart.
You sound like me.
Before I forget:
Happy Birthday, Swampy!!!
The phone rang a few minutes ago, and the caller ID displayed “Unknown Name Unknown Number” I usually don’t answer those, but since Mr. SCL is at work and I was concerned it might be him, I answered.
Caller: “Mr. Smith?”
Me: “Do I sound like a Mr.?”
I do not have a male-sounding voice. If you are going into telemarketing, learn to deivate from you script a bit, if only to avoid sounding like an idiot and/or pissing off the person you are calling before they even know why you’re calling.
Caller: “I’m sorry - I guess this is Mrs. Smith?”
I almost said "Mrs. Smith is my mother-in-law and she’s been dead for 5 years. Would you like to try again? I decided against it and admitted that I was, indeed, Mrs. Smith.
Some fundraising foundation that wanted to mail me a bunch of letters for me to supply postage and mail to my neighbors. I said, “No, thank you” and hung up.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I hate telemarketers. Of any stripe, charity or otherwise.
FCM, I think you should have met him at the door with your hands covered in clay, and reached out to shake hands.
Last night was dinner at Thai House with my library director friend and her sister. Tonight I’m going to a Columbus Catfish (minor league baseball) game with some hockey friends. (We are desperate waiting for hockey season to start.) Then it’s off to go swimming at the home of one of said hockey friends and a late night pool party. I have been told I am sleeping on their couch, so I assume alcoholic libations are planned. Mr SCL is working 7a - 7p today and 7a - 7p tomorrow, so he won’t miss me.
That’s three nights this week I’ve been out socializing! Thursday was Booster Club and Longhorn, then Thai House Friday night and baseball/pool party tonight. I’m becoming quite the social butterfly!
I have to go make fig/strawberry jam. I’ll check back in later. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Happy Happy Birthday To Our Wonderful Geriatric Swampy!!!
Ahem.
I have returned from wandering around. I had stir fried vermicelli with beef and tofu and lots of chili sauce for breakfast. And iced coffee. Vietnamese iced coffee is one of the very best drinks around. I have purchased three tank tops ($10 total) (two somewhere between purple and magenta, and one blue), some masa harina mix, Mexican hot chocolate tablets, and two pork and cheese pupusas. Can someone teach me to make pupusas? It doesn’t look that difficult.
I’m going to hide indoors for the rest of the day. It’s hot. I’m fortifying myself with iced water, and soon I will wash the dishes, tidy the kitchen, and do myriad assorted chores. I think I will spend the evening at home eating popcorn and watching something (Pride and Prejudice? Buffy?).
