I don’t see a loss effecting Trump. He’ll blame it on a rigged system. Go right back to self promoting himself and running his businesses.
Maybe write another book to recover some of the money he’s spent on this election. I doubt he’ll be involved in politics anymore.
Bill Clinton is already a former president. Everything you say they’re doing because Hillary thinks she is going to win is irrelevant in light of the fact Bill already one two terms. They have already earned a presidential compound, to use your term.

You’re right about Trump. Losing the election probably will be the biggest failure in his life. He’d never admit it publicly. But it would have to hurt.
I don’t understand rich people. 
I’d find it a nuisance to own the property next door. The maintenance, taxes, insurance and so on. Maybe none of that matters when you’re rich.
Maybe they wanted to buy it for years but it was never for sale until now?
Maintenance, taxes and insurance are just expenses. Of course they matter less to the rich. In exchange they get more privacy, security, more space, things that do matter to them.
Realistically I think they are preparing for Hillary to be President. Bill will probably spend much of his time in NY. That means a much bigger security detail. He’s a former President and would be the spouse of a sitting President. Bill has to be well protected.
The CNN article noted that giving the secret service their own house will be a benefit. It gives the security detail a base of operations.
I was having a bit of fun by calling it premature. I understand Hillary will be extremely busy if she wins. This is one less thing she has to think about.
They are assuming she’ll win. Just like Trump’s camp assumes he’ll win. Somebody is in for a big let down after the election.
Don’t worry. The Donald will just cover his losses with Other People’s Money.
It doesn’t take a lot of time or effort to say to one of your lawyers, “Go purchase that house next door for us.”
When you’re as assured of winning as Clinton is over the deplorable Trump, you don’t need to act humble. I hope she puts up a giant sign tomorrow saying “President Hillary Clinton Compound” just to taunt Trump supporters. As long as you wouldn’t attack Trump for doing it, this isn’t news. This isn’t even worth reading about.
